前言
由上海市人民政府教育衛(wèi)生辦公室、市成人教育委員會、中共上海市委組織部、市人事局聯(lián)合組織編寫的“九十年代上海緊缺人才培訓(xùn)工程教學(xué)系列叢書”將陸續(xù)出版。編寫出版這套叢書是實施上海市緊缺人才培訓(xùn)工程的基礎(chǔ)工作之一,對推動培養(yǎng)和造就適應(yīng)上海經(jīng)濟建設(shè)和社會發(fā)展急需的專業(yè)技術(shù)人才必將起到積極的作用。 九十年代是振興上海、開發(fā)浦東關(guān)鍵的十年。上海要成為國際經(jīng)濟、金融、貿(mào)易中心之一,成為長江流域經(jīng)濟發(fā)展的“龍頭”,很大程度上取決于上海能否有效地提高上海人的整體素質(zhì),能否培養(yǎng)和造就出一大批堅持為上海經(jīng)濟建設(shè)和社會發(fā)展服務(wù),既懂經(jīng)濟、懂法律、懂外語,又善于經(jīng)營管理,擅長國際競爭,適合社會主義市場經(jīng)濟新秩序的多層次專業(yè)技術(shù)人才。這已越來越成為廣大上海人的共同認識?! ∧壳吧虾H瞬诺臓顩r不容樂觀,與經(jīng)濟建設(shè)和社會發(fā)展的需求矛盾日趨突出。它集中地表現(xiàn)在:社會主義市場經(jīng)濟的逐步確立,外向型經(jīng)濟的迅速發(fā)展,新興產(chǎn)業(yè)的不斷崛起,產(chǎn)業(yè)產(chǎn)品結(jié)構(gòu)的適時調(diào)整,使原來習(xí)慣于在計劃體制下工作的各類專業(yè)技術(shù)人才進入了一個生疏的境地,使原來以面向國內(nèi)市場為主的各類專業(yè)技術(shù)人才進入一個同時面向國內(nèi)外市場并參與國際競爭的新天地,金融、旅游、房地產(chǎn)和許多高新技術(shù)產(chǎn)業(yè)又急切地呼喚一大批新的專業(yè)技術(shù)人才,加劇了本市專業(yè)人才總量不足、結(jié)構(gòu)不合理的狀況。此外,本市的從業(yè)人員和市民的外語水平與計算機的應(yīng)用能力普遍不高。這種情況如不能迅速改變,必將會影響上海的經(jīng)濟走向世界,必將影響上海在國際經(jīng)濟、金融、貿(mào)易中的地位,和在長江流域乃至全國經(jīng)濟發(fā)展中的作用。緊缺人才培訓(xùn)問題已引起上海市委、市政府的高度重視。
內(nèi)容概要
一本優(yōu)秀的英語口語教材在體例設(shè)計和語言材料的編排上應(yīng)充分重視和培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的主動表達能力,并關(guān)注中國學(xué)生心理上和習(xí)慣上的因素,力圖扭轉(zhuǎn)片面地對教材進行朗讀、背誦、理解,在實際運用中卻很難實現(xiàn)有效的口語交際或無法繼續(xù)提高的現(xiàn)象。在本書的修訂中,我們特別注意克服上述弊病,以中級口譯第二階段考試要求為導(dǎo)向,使學(xué)生能夠有效地組織演講內(nèi)容,有意識地進行“朗讀理解——操練運用——自主表達”三位一體的有機循環(huán),更好地實現(xiàn)“學(xué)以致用,提高口頭表達”的目標(biāo)。

First of all, it is important to plan. Do your homework. Find out everything you can about your subject. And at the same time ,find out as much as you can about your audience. Who are they?What do they know about your subject? Do they have a common in terest? Why are they coming to hear you speak? Put yourself in their shoes as you prepare your speech. Just remember to be prepared. Know your subject, your audience, and the occasion. Let us suppose that you have been asked to introduce the main speaker at a meeting. First, find out the most important and interesting things about the speaker. Then, summarize this information in a few words. Remember you are not the main speaker; you are introducing the main speaker. If you are giving a lecture or explaining an idea, gather as many facts as you can on your subject. Spend plenty of time doing your research. Then spend plenty of time organizing your material so that your speech is clear and easy to follow. Use as many examples as possible. And use pictures or charts if they will help you make your points clearer. Never forget your audience. Dont talk over their heads. And dont talk down to them. Treat your audience with respect. They will appreciate your thoughtfulness. If you follow these simple steps, youll see that you dont have to be afraid of public speaking.
