英語(yǔ)讀寫教程（下）

前言

　　大學(xué)英語(yǔ)是學(xué)生進(jìn)入大學(xué)后必修的一門語(yǔ)言類課程。它既是一門語(yǔ)言技能基礎(chǔ)課程，又是一門跨文化能力培養(yǎng)課程，在人才素質(zhì)培養(yǎng)過(guò)程中起著舉足輕重的作用?！　≡诮?jīng)濟(jì)全球化進(jìn)程不斷加快的今天，我們需要不同層次的各類專業(yè)人才為社會(huì)服務(wù)。如何針對(duì)不同層次需求，培養(yǎng)具有較高跨文化交際能力且滿足各類工作崗位需要的學(xué)生，是擺在我國(guó)高等教育面前一個(gè)急需解決的課題。因此，開展教材建設(shè)，采用多元化的人才培養(yǎng)模式組織教學(xué)，按照學(xué)習(xí)對(duì)象各自不同的語(yǔ)言基礎(chǔ)，構(gòu)建“分層教學(xué)、分類指導(dǎo)、分別達(dá)標(biāo)”的課程體系刻不容緩?！　　队⒄Z(yǔ)讀寫教程》（上、下冊(cè)）遵循了“因材施教”的人本原則，充分考慮了學(xué)生的語(yǔ)言基礎(chǔ)現(xiàn)實(shí)。采取由淺入深的編寫方法使教材能夠體現(xiàn)層次化和階梯化。目前，針對(duì)中等水平以上學(xué)生所編寫的教材已經(jīng)比較豐富，但針對(duì)語(yǔ)言基礎(chǔ)相對(duì)薄弱的學(xué)生所編寫的教材尚顯不足。鑒于此，編寫組展開充分的調(diào)研，深入了解這部分學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)需求，編寫了這套教材，以滿足教學(xué)的需要?！　　队⒄Z(yǔ)讀寫教程》（上、下冊(cè)）的編寫目的在于通過(guò)本教材的使用，使學(xué)生掌握2500左右的單詞和短語(yǔ)，能夠讀懂中等難度以下的英文文章，了解西方的文化，并能夠掌握一定的寫作技巧，具備一定的寫作能力。同時(shí)也兼顧對(duì)學(xué)生語(yǔ)音基礎(chǔ)、語(yǔ)法基礎(chǔ)的培養(yǎng)，使學(xué)生具備一定的語(yǔ)感，為今后的學(xué)習(xí)打下堅(jiān)實(shí)的基礎(chǔ)?！　　队⒄Z(yǔ)讀寫教程》（上、下冊(cè)），注重內(nèi)容的趣味性、廣泛性、可思性和前瞻性，同時(shí)兼顧語(yǔ)言的規(guī)范性和文體的多樣性。教材以話題導(dǎo)入教學(xué)內(nèi)容，所涉及的話題有：大學(xué)生活、友情、餐飲、愛(ài)好、夢(mèng)想、家庭、教育、節(jié)日、語(yǔ)言學(xué)習(xí)、網(wǎng)絡(luò)、時(shí)尚、幸福與成功、生活方式、道德與準(zhǔn)則、風(fēng)度、旅行、愛(ài)情、文化、藝術(shù)、環(huán)境、名人、科學(xué)、個(gè)性、媒體、冒險(xiǎn)、動(dòng)物與自然、經(jīng)濟(jì)、壓力、健康、災(zāi)難、社會(huì)問(wèn)題和就業(yè)等方面。眾所周知，閱讀不僅是語(yǔ)言輸入的主要來(lái)源，也是聽(tīng)、說(shuō)、讀、寫、譯等技能提高的主要基礎(chǔ)，沒(méi)有足夠的語(yǔ)言輸入，其他技能的發(fā)展也是有限的。因此，本教材補(bǔ)充了閱讀賞析資料，使其行文布局更有利于學(xué)生的自主學(xué)習(xí)。

內(nèi)容概要

　　《英語(yǔ)讀寫教程（下）》針對(duì)在校大學(xué)生的語(yǔ)言基礎(chǔ)、思維能力和學(xué)習(xí)興趣的不同，材料選擇首先確定了學(xué)生感興趣的32個(gè)話題，力爭(zhēng)在選材時(shí)做到內(nèi)容豐富、題材廣泛以及體裁多樣。內(nèi)容主要從英美等國(guó)的報(bào)刊書籍以及網(wǎng)絡(luò)資源中選出，主要涉及語(yǔ)言、文化、習(xí)俗、科技、人物等，力求深入淺出。根據(jù)教學(xué)需要，編者對(duì)所選材料進(jìn)行了刪節(jié)、修改和簡(jiǎn)化。課文長(zhǎng)度為500—700詞左右，其重點(diǎn)在于加強(qiáng)學(xué)生的語(yǔ)言基本功，為后期的語(yǔ)言學(xué)習(xí)打下較為堅(jiān)實(shí)的基礎(chǔ)。

　　Questions 16 to 20 are based 011．the following passage．　　　More than seven hundred years ago，the Prince of Wales had a very big and brave clog called Gelert．One daythe Prince wanted to go hunting witll his men．He told his dog to stay at home and look after his baby son．Thebaby was in a wooden cradle．which was like a small bed．　　When the Prince came back from hunting，Gelert ran out to meet his master．He wagged his tail and jumpedup to put his paws on the Princes chest．Then the Prince saw the blood on Gelerts jaws and head．“What haveyou done？”the Prince said．He rushed into his house and looked for his baby son,The cradle was lying on its sideon the floor．The clothes were torn and there was blood on them．“So you have killed my son？”the Prince saidangrily．“You unfaithful dog！”He took out his sword and killed the dog．　　Just as Gelert was dying，he managed to bark．Then the Prince heard a baby call to the dog．The Prince ranout of the house and saw his son lying on the ground unhurt．Near him was a dead wolf．Then the Prince knewthat Gelert had defended the baby and killed the wolf．The Prince rail back into the house but he was too late．Gelert was dead．The Prince was very sad indeed．Tears ran down his face when he realized he had killed hisfaithful friend．　　The Prince carried the body of his brave dog to the top of a mountain and buried him there．After this，thePrince never smiled again．Every morning at dawn，he walked up the mountain and stood by the dogs grave for afew minutes．If you go to Mount Snowdon in Wales，people will show you where Gelert is buried．There is a signby his grave．It reminds people of a brave and faithful dog．
