內容概要

　　從培養(yǎng)新聞從業(yè)者的角度看，要會采集和傳播新聞和信息，首先要會看新聞、讀新聞。專業(yè)新聞從業(yè)者的職業(yè)要求從根本上講就是要全面、客觀、及時、公正地報道新聞事件。但是，我們知道，一個新聞從業(yè)者由于各自的政治環(huán)境、受教育的背景和政治傾向的不同，都會有一定的價值取向，而這種價值取向會滲透在新聞稿件之中。有一位法國新聞學者就說過，任何新聞稿件都滲透著政治和文化色彩。鑒于這一點，讀新聞并不是一件簡單的事，不僅需要掌握新聞的本質特點，而且還需要具備批判性思維的能力。要達到這樣的目的，學習新聞傳播專業(yè)的學生就需要廣泛地閱讀新聞，尤其是外語新聞。只有這樣，他們才會培養(yǎng)自己“窺一斑而見全豹”的能力。這與《高等學校英語專業(yè)英語教學大綱》的要求是契合的。根據(jù)《大綱》的要求英語教育需要處理好專業(yè)課與素質教育之間的關系，不僅要訓練語言技能、傳授專業(yè)知識，還要注重培養(yǎng)學生的思維能力、創(chuàng)新能力、分析問題能力、獨立提出見解的能力。可以說，就培養(yǎng)思辨能力而言，新聞稿件是理想的素材之一?！　囊陨虾喴年U述可以看出，采集和撰寫新聞需要專業(yè)知識并有職業(yè)上的要求，讀懂和理解新聞同樣需要豐富的知識和判讀分析能力。那么怎么能真正地把新聞讀懂，把新聞讀明白，這就需要專家學者的指導和自身的學習和思考。我很高興看到《英語報刊閱讀：跨文化交際與批判性思維》這本教材。這是國內第一部從培養(yǎng)學生跨文化交際能力和批判性思維能力入手而撰寫的英語新聞閱讀教材。這本教材圍繞編寫者提出的兩個基本任務，設計了各個環(huán)節(jié)，目的明確，在體例上有很大的創(chuàng)新。這種嘗試值得肯定?！　∽x懂和讀好新聞的目的是要培養(yǎng)新聞院校學生采集和撰寫新聞的能力。從培養(yǎng)年輕的新聞從業(yè)者的角度看，作者期待這本教材將會起到獨特和有效的作用。

作者簡介

　　劉琛，北京外國語大學英語學院跨文化研究中心主任、博士、副　教授、中國跨文化交際學會常務理事、中國高校影視傳播　學會青年研究會理事，主要從事跨文化傳播研究。主持完成多項國家社科基金項目，出版著作兩部，主編譯叢一部。論文From ‘Your Window on China’to‘Your Window on China and the World’：The Transformation of China’s Television Cultural Ideology Since 1978獲“亞洲——太平洋傳播學會”年度最佳論文獎。曾獲得國務院新聞辦等部門頒發(fā)的全國優(yōu)秀論文獎等。
