考研英語閱讀題源 紐約時報分冊

前言

2008年4月出版的（《考研英語閱讀題源》系列是我們下了大力氣編寫而成的，其間的痛苦只有我們自己才能體會——在眾多原版報刊雜志中確定對考生最有幫助的幾本是一個浩大的工程，而想要在周刊，甚至是日報中篩選與考研閱讀趨勢最接近的文章就更加艱難。毫不夸張地說，最終確定的300篇文章（每本分冊50篇）是從上千篇文章中“海選”出來的，每每敲定一篇文章，那種成就感就好比文章是自己寫出的一般。文章確定了，就要翻譯，原版出版物文章的翻譯絕非易事，不能說我們的翻譯盡善盡美，但可以保證的是，最終的翻譯是我們花費了大量心血譯成的。因此，在得知《考研英語閱讀題源》系列面世之后受到廣大考研考生，甚至是大眾英語學(xué)習(xí)愛好者的熱烈追捧之時，我們感到異常欣慰?！邦}源”并不是一個全新的概念，通過對考研英語真題閱讀文章的分析就可以看出，大部分文章都是由近幾年知名原版英文報刊雜志中發(fā)表的文章改編而來的。這一點通過下表就可以看出。

作者簡介

江濤，原北京外國語大學(xué)青年教師，英國、挪威、荷蘭等多國留學(xué)背景。從教多年，受中國各大省、市100多所知名高校之邀，演講千余場，以其極其感染力的激情，一針見血的點評，坦誠務(wù)實的作風(fēng)廣受學(xué)員贊譽(yù)。主編《80天攻克雅思》、《70天攻克考研英語》、《40天攻克四級710分新題型》等系列叢書，出版英語教學(xué)類書籍上千萬字，暢銷大陸，遠(yuǎn)銷臺灣及東南亞地區(qū)。2003年同語言學(xué)家、美籍華人彭鐵城教授創(chuàng)辦華盛頓國際英語學(xué)校；2005年創(chuàng)辦卓成教育，首開中國民營教育機(jī)構(gòu)多元化研究與大學(xué)師資培訓(xùn)之先河。同年，受國家領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人全國人大常委會副委員長成恩危接見。

插圖：社會類Passage One Frustration Grows at Carousel As More Baggage Goes Astray重點段落譯文 自從8月10日，航空公司對大部分隨身攜帶的流質(zhì)物品發(fā)布禁令后，行李檢查的數(shù)量陡增，造成大量行李放置錯亂，而這種失誤將可能在假期旅行旺季持續(xù)惡化。據(jù)交通部門報告，8月份有107，731位飛機(jī)乘客行李丟失，與去年同期相比增加了33％。9月份的情況更為糟糕，另有l(wèi)83，234位乘客的行李處理不當(dāng)，這比去年上升了92％。依據(jù)國際航空電訊集團(tuán)公司的統(tǒng)計——一家向航空公司和機(jī)場出售關(guān)于行李和其他系統(tǒng)的軟件的公司，全球每年大約有3千萬件行李被遺失。航空公司要尋到這些丟失的行李，再送到往往憤怒等待的乘客那里，這將造成全球航空公司每年損失25億美元。每年，僅有約20萬件丟失行李能最終物歸原主，這個數(shù)字單聽起來相當(dāng)可觀，但那意味著在數(shù)十億件計的行李中，每年僅能核實的行李不到1％。在美國，在行李操作系統(tǒng)方面最為糟糕的是美國費城航空公司和東南大西洋航空公司兩大航空公司。目前的補(bǔ)救工作正在進(jìn)行中，其中東南大西洋航空公司在亞特蘭大采取三角形接線法進(jìn)行操作。這兩家航空公司曾過度縮減員工和設(shè)備。但到感恩節(jié)前，這些大型中轉(zhuǎn)機(jī)場能否流暢運作都很難確定。
