前言

  《實(shí)用英語(yǔ)》是一套供高等專科學(xué)校使用的英語(yǔ)教材。本教材的編寫(xiě)以國(guó)家教育委員會(huì)1993年頒發(fā)的《普通高等??朴⒄Z(yǔ)課程教學(xué)基本要求》為依據(jù)。《基本要求》規(guī)定:普通高等??朴⒄Z(yǔ)課程教學(xué)的目的是,培養(yǎng)學(xué)生掌握必需的、實(shí)用的英語(yǔ)語(yǔ)言知識(shí)和技能,具有閱讀和翻譯與本專業(yè)有關(guān)的英文資料的初步能力,并為進(jìn)一步提高英語(yǔ)的應(yīng)用能力打下一定的基礎(chǔ)?! 榱梭w現(xiàn)上述教學(xué)目的,在編寫(xiě)《實(shí)用英語(yǔ)》過(guò)程中我們既注意吸收現(xiàn)代外語(yǔ)教學(xué)理論中適合我國(guó)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)實(shí)際的某些觀點(diǎn),又采納傳統(tǒng)外語(yǔ)教學(xué)理論中某些合理部分,結(jié)合我國(guó)外語(yǔ)教學(xué)中行之有效的理論和方法及現(xiàn)狀,力求正確處理好語(yǔ)言基礎(chǔ)和語(yǔ)言應(yīng)用的關(guān)系,突出加強(qiáng)英語(yǔ)實(shí)踐能力的培養(yǎng)和實(shí)際運(yùn)用?!  痘疽蟆穼?朴⒄Z(yǔ)課程教學(xué)分為兩個(gè)階段:第一階段應(yīng)重視語(yǔ)言共核教學(xué),培養(yǎng)基本的語(yǔ)言技能;第二階段應(yīng)結(jié)合專業(yè),強(qiáng)調(diào)基本的閱讀和翻譯技能在本專業(yè)的實(shí)際應(yīng)Illo為了體現(xiàn)這一教學(xué)安排,本套教材也分成兩個(gè)階段。第一階段包括《綜合教程》和《泛讀教程》各3冊(cè),第二階段包括《實(shí)用業(yè)務(wù)英語(yǔ)》1冊(cè)?!毒C合教程》和《泛讀教程》是《實(shí)用業(yè)務(wù)英語(yǔ)》的基礎(chǔ),并在教學(xué)內(nèi)容、技能培養(yǎng)方面逐漸向《實(shí)用業(yè)務(wù)英語(yǔ)》過(guò)渡;《實(shí)用業(yè)務(wù)英語(yǔ)》是《綜合教程》和《泛讀教程》的總結(jié)和提高,并結(jié)合學(xué)生畢業(yè)后使用英語(yǔ)的需要,側(cè)重于實(shí)用文體的閱讀和翻譯、實(shí)用英語(yǔ)口語(yǔ)的訓(xùn)練和實(shí)用文體模擬寫(xiě)作方面的訓(xùn)練。為了便于廣大師生使用上述教材,還編配了《教師參考書(shū)》和同步練習(xí)性質(zhì)的《綜合訓(xùn)練與自測(cè)》?! ≌n文A與B的練習(xí)分別由閱讀理解練習(xí)(Reading Tasks)、詞匯結(jié)構(gòu)練習(xí)(Vocabulary and Structure).閱讀技能實(shí)踐(:Reading Skills)等幾個(gè)模塊組成。閱讀理解練習(xí)包括讀前準(zhǔn)備,讀中提問(wèn)(課文A)和讀后練習(xí)。詞匯結(jié)構(gòu)練習(xí)側(cè)重課文中所出現(xiàn)的《基本要求》要求掌握的詞匯和結(jié)構(gòu)的操練和運(yùn)用。閱讀技能實(shí)踐這一。項(xiàng)目安排在課文B之后,目的是利用已學(xué)過(guò)的課文介紹和實(shí)踐《基本要求》中規(guī)定學(xué)生需要掌握的一些閱讀技能項(xiàng)目。這一冊(cè)的閱讀技能側(cè)重各種段落類型,理解語(yǔ)篇中的具體信息,如因果關(guān)系、比較與對(duì)照、舉例、分類、定義、過(guò)程、空間順序和時(shí)間順序等。

  4、Gaining the confidence of others requires,first of all,thoughtfulness aboutother people’s beliefs,interests,and feelings.Public relations begins by planningone’s actions SO as to respect the rights and beliefs of other people.Unless apublic relations program takes these things into account,it can do little to help acompany.Not all the money in the world,nor the most skilful writers or speakers,can make a company look as if it cares about other people if the company reallydoes not care.Most companies,therefore,consider how any action,such asmoving to a new location or buying another business,will affect public opinion.Having made a decision,the company wants everyone to understand the decisionand the reasons it was made.  5、Most large companies have a public relations department,which tells thepublic about the company’s plans and activities.The department is made up ofwriters,editors,photographic and picture expels,and researchers.  6、There are many ways to reveal a company’s activities and character.A veryeffective one is through speeches by officials of the company before organisationssuch aS the local chamber of commerce and various clubs.The speeches areusually reported in the newspapers and are often reprinted for distribution to gov.emment officials,educators,journalists,and others who might be interested in thecompany’s views.Printed pamphlets and booklets,including the company maga.zine and the annual report of the management to the shareholders,also helpinform the public abouta company.
