前言

  進(jìn)入21世紀(jì),我國(guó)高等教育呈現(xiàn)出快速擴(kuò)展的趨勢(shì)。為適應(yīng)社會(huì)、經(jīng)濟(jì)的快速發(fā)展,人才的問題已經(jīng)提到一個(gè)比中國(guó)任何一個(gè)歷史時(shí)期更加顯著的位置。當(dāng)今.人才的能力和素質(zhì)的衡量越來(lái)越多地采用國(guó)際標(biāo)準(zhǔn),人才的外語(yǔ)水平自然地越來(lái)越受到培養(yǎng)單位和用人單位的重視,由此引發(fā)了對(duì)大學(xué)外語(yǔ)教學(xué)、教學(xué)模式、教材和檢測(cè)機(jī)制的新一輪討論,掀起了新一輪的大學(xué)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)改革。作為外語(yǔ)師資隊(duì)伍和外語(yǔ)專業(yè)人才培養(yǎng)的高等學(xué)校英語(yǔ)專業(yè),相比之下,在教學(xué)改革思路、新教材開發(fā)和新教學(xué)模式探討等諸方面均顯得滯后。盡管高等學(xué)校外語(yǔ)專業(yè)教學(xué)指導(dǎo)委員會(huì)英語(yǔ)組針對(duì)當(dāng)前高校發(fā)展的新形式和外語(yǔ)專業(yè)人才培養(yǎng)的新規(guī)格、新模式和新要求,修訂出了新的《高等學(xué)校英語(yǔ)專業(yè)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)大綱》,并結(jié)合21世紀(jì)外語(yǔ)人才培養(yǎng)和需求的新形勢(shì),制定了由教育部高等教育司轉(zhuǎn)發(fā)的《關(guān)于外語(yǔ)專業(yè)面向21世紀(jì)本科教育改革的若干意見》,就英語(yǔ)專業(yè)的建設(shè)提出了指導(dǎo)性的意見,但是在實(shí)際工作中這兩個(gè)文件的精神尚未落實(shí)。  為此,重慶大學(xué)出版社和外語(yǔ)教學(xué)界的專家們就國(guó)內(nèi)高等學(xué)校英語(yǔ)專業(yè)建設(shè)所面,臨的新形勢(shì)做了專題討論。在討論中專家們認(rèn)為,把“大綱”的設(shè)計(jì)和“若干意見”的思想和理念變?yōu)楝F(xiàn)實(shí)的一個(gè)最直接的體現(xiàn)方式,就是編寫一套全新理念的英語(yǔ)專業(yè)系列教材;隨著我國(guó)教育體制的改革,特別是對(duì)中小學(xué)教學(xué)新機(jī)制的探討,高校的外語(yǔ)教學(xué)和英語(yǔ)專業(yè)的人才培養(yǎng)亦應(yīng)調(diào)整其教材,以應(yīng)對(duì)中學(xué)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)的改革和新要求;高校學(xué)生入學(xué)的英語(yǔ)水平逐年提高,與此同時(shí),就業(yè)市場(chǎng)對(duì)外語(yǔ)人才需求呈多元化趨勢(shì),對(duì)高等學(xué)校英語(yǔ)專業(yè)的人才培養(yǎng)、教學(xué)模式、課程設(shè)置、教材建設(shè)等方面也提出了嚴(yán)峻挑戰(zhàn),應(yīng)對(duì)這些挑戰(zhàn),同樣可以通過一套新的教材體系來(lái)實(shí)現(xiàn)?! ∽?000年開始,在重慶大學(xué)出版社的大力支持下,我們成立了“求知高等學(xué)校英語(yǔ)專業(yè)系列教材”編寫組,邀請(qǐng)了華中、華南、西南和西北地區(qū)的知名專家、學(xué)者和教學(xué)一線教師,對(duì)編寫一套系統(tǒng)的高等學(xué)校英語(yǔ)專業(yè)教材進(jìn)行了認(rèn)真論證和規(guī)劃。編寫組認(rèn)為,迄今為止國(guó)內(nèi)尚無(wú)一套完整的、系統(tǒng)的英語(yǔ)專業(yè)系列教材;目前已有的教材出自不同的出版社,編寫的思路和體例不盡相同;現(xiàn)有的教材因出版時(shí)間較早,內(nèi)容、知識(shí)結(jié)構(gòu)、教學(xué)方法和手段已經(jīng)不能適應(yīng)新的發(fā)展要求;傳統(tǒng)的教材設(shè)計(jì)多數(shù)基于學(xué)科的內(nèi)在邏輯和系統(tǒng)性,較少考慮學(xué)習(xí)者的全面發(fā)展和社會(huì)對(duì)人才需求的多元化。

內(nèi)容概要

本書是21世紀(jì)中西部英語(yǔ)專業(yè)系列教材之一。適用于廣大外語(yǔ)專業(yè)學(xué)生、非外語(yǔ)專業(yè)的外語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)者、外語(yǔ)教師、以及所有其他各層次的外語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)者和愛好者。  全書由18個(gè)單元組成,分為四大部分:理論篇、語(yǔ)言技能篇、相關(guān)語(yǔ)言篇和資源利用篇?! ±碚撈」?單元,討論學(xué)習(xí)策略和技巧的概念,闡述相關(guān)的學(xué)習(xí)理論和觀念,如終身學(xué)習(xí)、自我學(xué)習(xí)、學(xué)習(xí)者中心、研究性學(xué)習(xí)等等,并結(jié)合外語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)自身的客觀規(guī)律,指出它們之間的契合點(diǎn),強(qiáng)調(diào)外語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)策略和技巧的主要內(nèi)容。   語(yǔ)言技能篇 共8單元,介紹外語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)的策略和方法,包括聽、說、讀、寫四種語(yǔ)言技能,以及語(yǔ)音、詞匯、語(yǔ)法、文化等相關(guān)知識(shí)。  相關(guān)語(yǔ)言篇 共3單元,詳細(xì)介紹幾種常見的學(xué)習(xí)手段,如聽課、寫論文、備考等,強(qiáng)調(diào)實(shí)用操作?! ≠Y源利用篇 共3單元,介紹查找資料、解決問題的途徑和技巧,如圖書館的使用、工具書和報(bào)刊雜志的查閱、網(wǎng)絡(luò)的利用等?! ”緯糜⒄Z(yǔ)編寫,便于外語(yǔ)課堂使用。每單元分三大部分:策略與技巧、家庭作業(yè)和閱讀書目及網(wǎng)址。每單元的主體部分是策略與技巧,全部設(shè)計(jì)為任務(wù)(tasks)形式,讓學(xué)生動(dòng)手、動(dòng)腦,在做中學(xué)。家庭作業(yè)是基于主體部分設(shè)計(jì)的鞏固題和進(jìn)一步思考題。閱讀書目和網(wǎng)址列舉了一部分主要的相關(guān)書籍和網(wǎng)絡(luò)地址,供使用者自學(xué)和做研究。

作者簡(jiǎn)介

張維友,教授,華中師范大學(xué)外國(guó)語(yǔ)學(xué)院院長(zhǎng)。先后留學(xué)美國(guó)和英國(guó)。1992年獲倫敦大學(xué)文學(xué)碩士學(xué)位。享受湖北省專項(xiàng)津貼專家。從事語(yǔ)言學(xué)和應(yīng)用語(yǔ)言學(xué)的研究,對(duì)英語(yǔ)詞匯學(xué)、英漢詞匯比較、文體學(xué)、語(yǔ)義等有深入的研究。已出版著作14部,發(fā)表論文30多篇。主要著作有《實(shí)用英語(yǔ)

  (1) Play guessing games and communication games; do role plays and skits; sing songs, use plenty of group work; laugh with others; and share fears in group. ?。?) Encourage yourself in any sincere efforts to try out language. Use fluency exercises where errors are not corrected at that time; do outside-of class assignments to speak. ?。?) Believe in yourself. List your strong points; think of the achievementsyou have made. ?。?) Remind yourself of the rewards for learning L2; think of jobs that require English, do not restrict yourself to exams. ?。?) Share knowledge with fellow learners; play down competition among yourselves, think of yourselves as a team, do group work if situation permits. ?。?) Watch movies and tapes in class; read passages rapidly; do skimming exercises; do rapid free writing; do oral fluency exercises without being corrected.  (7) Cope with chaos. Do not expect to get hard and fast answer to every question you come across; deal with just a few rules at a time; occasionally you can resort to translation into a native language to clarify a word or meaning. ?。?) Enconrage yourself to guess; do not always try to get explanation for errors if you know the corrections. ?。?) Make mistakes work for you. Tape record your oral production and identify the errors and correct them or have others to correct them; make your list of common errors and work on them on your own.  (10) Set your own goals. Encourage yourself to go beyond the classroom goals; make a list of what you will accomplish on your own in a particular week; make specific time commitment at home to learn the language.
