前言

  高職英語(yǔ)課程教學(xué)的最終目的是實(shí)現(xiàn)高職教育的人才培養(yǎng)目標(biāo):培養(yǎng)適應(yīng)社會(huì)需求的高素質(zhì)的技能型人才。英語(yǔ)課程教學(xué)內(nèi)容的實(shí)用性是高職英語(yǔ)課程教學(xué)的關(guān)鍵。根據(jù)內(nèi)容實(shí)用性原則,結(jié)合土木工程專業(yè)對(duì)人才培養(yǎng)的需要,教材編寫(xiě)組對(duì)基礎(chǔ)英語(yǔ)和專業(yè)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)內(nèi)容進(jìn)行了改革,編寫(xiě)出《土木工程應(yīng)用英語(yǔ)》教材。該教材就是根據(jù)目前全國(guó)高職人才培養(yǎng)目標(biāo)改革的新動(dòng)向和新要求,對(duì)基礎(chǔ)英語(yǔ)和土木工程專業(yè)英語(yǔ)課程內(nèi)容進(jìn)行科學(xué)合理的整合,使其更好地銜接,讓學(xué)生在完成兩學(xué)期的基礎(chǔ)英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)后,在第三學(xué)期基礎(chǔ)英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)階段就能接觸和學(xué)會(huì)常見(jiàn)的、實(shí)用的專業(yè)英語(yǔ)詞匯和知識(shí),從而對(duì)專業(yè)英語(yǔ)產(chǎn)生興趣并為后續(xù)的專業(yè)英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)奠定較好的基礎(chǔ)。

  Construction engineering is a specialized brand of. civil engineeringconcerned with the planning,execution,,and control of constructionoperations for such projects as highways, buildings, dams, airports, and utilitylines. Construction engineers oversee the construction of a project frombeginning to end. They coordinate the activities of virtually everyone engagedin the work: the surveyors, workers who lay out and construct the temporaryroads and ramps, excavate for the foundation, build the forms and pour theconcrete; and workers who build the steel framework. These engineers alsomake regular progress reports to the owner of the structure.Transportation Engineering  In this branch of engineering, civil engineers build facilities to ensure safeand efficient movement of both people and goods. They specialize in designingand maintaining all transportation facilities, highways and streets, mass transitsystems, railroads and airfield ports and harbors. Transportation engineersapply technological knowledge as well as consideration of economic, political,and social factors in designing each project. They work closely with urbanplanners because the quality of the community is directly related to the qualityof the transportation system.
