「最好是可以親近，可以觸摸的，沒有距離感?！?br />「公共藝術(shù)應(yīng)該引起對話、沉思，建構(gòu)一個(gè)人對地方的認(rèn)知?！?br />「整個(gè)社會(huì)未必因?yàn)槎嗔斯菜囆g(shù)作品而馬上改變，但有些影響正在生活中慢慢地發(fā)生?！?br />公共藝術(shù)在西方國家實(shí)行多年，從美學(xué)的討論、公共空間的使用，到持份者的參與甚至創(chuàng)造，仍是一個(gè)充滿爭議的題目；在香港，更是方興未艾的熱門話題。公共藝術(shù)跨越建築、設(shè)計(jì)、純藝術(shù)和環(huán)境規(guī)劃等不同範(fàn)疇，為公民意識(shí)、城市身份，以至經(jīng)濟(jì)和環(huán)境的持續(xù)發(fā)展，搭建了全新的討論平臺(tái)，提供更開闊的想像。
《藝術(shù)走過界》以位於沙田的「城市藝坊」作藍(lán)本，邀請三十多位藝術(shù)家、建築師、策展人、居民、場地?fù)碛姓?、贊助人、政策制定和?zhí)行者、規(guī)劃及設(shè)計(jì)師等，探討公共藝術(shù)在香港，以至海外的種種可能性，期待讓美學(xué)的公共價(jià)值在本土扎根。

Public art has been a recent topic of fervent discussion in Hong Kong. Established over decades in Western societies, the art is still debatable from the point of view of aesthetics, the use of public space, to the participation of stake-holders. Trespassing borders between fine-art, design, architecture, environment and planning, public art can create a platform for issues such as public awareness, city identity, economics and environmental sustainability. It can provoke questions and actions for a contextually unique future.
Using City Art Square in Shatin as an example, Crossing the Border invited over thirty artists, architects, curators, residents, venue owners, sponsors, policy-makers, urban-planners and others to explore various possibilities of public art in Hong Kong.
culture and media, who once lived on Lantau for almost twelve years (1990-91 and then 1993-2004), finally a self-outcast in between the seams of Hong Kong and Beijing.
Anthony McHugh, a Mancunian and a 100% Manchester United fan, who has been living on Lantau Island since early 90s. From a freelance photographer of 4A advertising companies to a eco-furniture maker with recycled wood, a food stylist to a cook, all are his meticulous passion.
