前言

　　中國遠程教育的發(fā)展經(jīng)歷了三代：第一代是函授教育；第二代是廣播電視教育；20世紀90年代，隨著現(xiàn)代信息技術(shù)的發(fā)展，以網(wǎng)絡(luò)為基礎(chǔ)的第三代現(xiàn)代遠程教育應(yīng)運而生。到目前為止，教育部批準開展現(xiàn)代遠程教育試點的高校共67所。對外經(jīng)濟貿(mào)易大學遠程教育學院（簡稱“貿(mào)大遠程”）是在中國加入WTO后的第一年，于2002年3月正式成立的。　　現(xiàn)代遠程教育作為新生事物，對傳統(tǒng)的教學模式、學習習慣、獲取新知的途徑等產(chǎn)生了巨大的沖擊。如何在網(wǎng)絡(luò)時代打造學習型社會，構(gòu)筑終身教育體系，是當今時代的重大課題，現(xiàn)代遠程教育試點高校為此進行了許多卓有成效的探索。在網(wǎng)絡(luò)教育的具體實踐中，貿(mào)大遠程始終堅持依托學校的整體優(yōu)勢和特色，堅持知識的內(nèi)在邏輯性與職業(yè)、行業(yè)的市場需求的統(tǒng)一，堅持開展面向廣大在職人員的現(xiàn)代遠程教育，逐步形成了獨具我校特色的“7+1”學習模式（即網(wǎng)絡(luò)課堂、網(wǎng)上答疑、課程光盤、教材資料、適量面授、網(wǎng)上串講、成績檢測，以及第二課堂活動），為學生個性化學習提供了廣闊的空間。自2003年起，貿(mào)大遠程連續(xù)三年蟬聯(lián)新浪網(wǎng)、擇校網(wǎng)、搜狐網(wǎng)和《中國電腦教育報》聯(lián)合評出的全國“十佳網(wǎng)絡(luò)教育學院（機構(gòu)）”稱號。值得一提的是，“國際貿(mào)易實務(wù)”課程榮獲國家級獎項，“商務(wù)英語”等七門課程榮獲北京市優(yōu)秀教材一等獎和精品課程稱號，另有十余門課程在全國性的遠程教育課程展示會上獲得大獎。

內(nèi)容概要

本書屬對外經(jīng)濟貿(mào)易大學遠程教育基礎(chǔ)英語教材，由10課組成，每課包括課文、詞匯、注釋、復(fù)習重點、練習及答案、課文譯文等內(nèi)容。注解精辟，知識點全面，課文譯文符合信達雅標準，是一本較好的大學英語教材。
