章節(jié)摘錄

Brainstorming hospital, doctor, wheelchair, patience, nurse, aging relative, paralyzed, stroke, clinic, cheer up, feel the pulse, blood pressure test, CT-scan of ones chest, have a lung X-ray, make the bed, change the bed linen, allergic to medication, be careful not to stumble, give an injection, infection, etc. Pre-reading Questions The following pieces of writing are just for reference.1. It was two years ago. I was 20 years old and lived the life of a "normal" college student. A part of that life, of course, was basketball, lazy sleep and long nights in the cybercafé. I can still remember it was on Sunday, one day atter I took part in an important speech contest. I did quite a good job in the contest, so I decided to spend the night in a nearby interact bar and go back to my home town the next day. Suddenly in the middle of surfing the interact I became very dizzy. My field of vision kept turning and it was especially bad when I jerked my head, when I stood up and then when I walked. I staggered like a drunkard, but I was sober. My friends made jokes and thought I had better go back to the dorm. On the way back to my dorm it became even worse: double vision and dizziness. I had to stop and vomit. Back at the dorm it continued. I fell into bed and with every movement of my head I felt like I was riding the most violent roller coaster imaginable. I became really afraid and had to go to the school clinic for an emergency treatment. The doctor examined me and suspected food poisoning. Then he immediately put me on the drip. The next day the previous symptoms all went away and I became very much alive again.
