內(nèi)容概要

本書系“英語(yǔ)新概念閱讀”系列中的第八本，供廣大學(xué)生和英語(yǔ)自學(xué)者提高英語(yǔ)閱讀能力、同時(shí)學(xué)習(xí)和了解多方面學(xué)科知識(shí)使用。本書中所有閱讀文章都圍繞四個(gè)基本概念展開：第一，變化可能產(chǎn)生意想不到的結(jié)果；第二，有些變化是按計(jì)劃發(fā)生的，有些則是偶發(fā)的；第三，現(xiàn)代生活方式要求有計(jì)劃的變化；第四，變化會(huì)將我們帶向何處。書中的閱讀文章均采用圍繞反映這些概念的大量不同學(xué)科的材料編寫，涉及藝術(shù)、歷史、空間學(xué)、生物學(xué)、經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)、工程學(xué)、地球科學(xué)、人類學(xué)、數(shù)學(xué)以及地理等學(xué)科。這樣編寫的目的是保證學(xué)習(xí)者對(duì)不同學(xué)科的興趣都能得到滿足。同時(shí)書中還收錄了若干民間文學(xué)故事或傳說(shuō)。每篇閱讀文章中的較難詞匯及其解釋以及部分專有名詞按文章順序列在本書第6—12頁(yè)。每篇閱讀文章后都配有精心設(shè)計(jì)的閱讀理解練習(xí)，供讀者檢查閱讀效果用。相信本系列的出版不僅能提高廣大讀者的英語(yǔ)閱讀能力，更能幫助大家開闊視野，擴(kuò)大知識(shí)面。
