內(nèi)容概要

本書系“英語新概念閱讀”系列中的第八本，供廣大學生和英語自學者提高英語閱讀能力、同時學習和了解多方面學科知識使用。本書中所有閱讀文章都圍繞四個基本概念展開：第一，變化可能產(chǎn)生意想不到的結果；第二，有些變化是按計劃發(fā)生的，有些則是偶發(fā)的；第三，現(xiàn)代生活方式要求有計劃的變化；第四，變化會將我們帶向何處。書中的閱讀文章均采用圍繞反映這些概念的大量不同學科的材料編寫，涉及藝術、歷史、空間學、生物學、經(jīng)濟學、工程學、地球科學、人類學、數(shù)學以及地理等學科。這樣編寫的目的是保證學習者對不同學科的興趣都能得到滿足。同時書中還收錄了若干民間文學故事或傳說。每篇閱讀文章中的較難詞匯及其解釋以及部分專有名詞按文章順序列在本書第6—12頁。每篇閱讀文章后都配有精心設計的閱讀理解練習，供讀者檢查閱讀效果用。相信本系列的出版不僅能提高廣大讀者的英語閱讀能力，更能幫助大家開闊視野，擴大知識面。
