全書(shū)共分六章。第一章簡(jiǎn)要介紹了詹姆斯一世后斯的悲劇在國(guó)內(nèi)外的研究現(xiàn)狀，指出它們?cè)趪?guó)外學(xué)術(shù)界的重要地位和國(guó)內(nèi)研究的匱乏，以及本書(shū)的寫(xiě)作初衰，即希望通過(guò)對(duì)其中幾部重要悲劇中女性角色的研究喚起國(guó)內(nèi)學(xué)者對(duì)英國(guó)文學(xué)史上這一重要時(shí)期的生視。
    第二章主要對(duì)比詹姆斯一世后期的英國(guó)悲劇與莎士比亞時(shí)期的悲劇在主題、人物等方面的異同，揭示它們之間的明顯區(qū)別，即莎士比亞時(shí)期的英國(guó)悲劇男性占絕對(duì)的主導(dǎo)地位，而在詹姆斯一世后期的悲劇中占中心位置的往往是女性人物；前者往往以戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)或政治生活為大背景，后者更多的是對(duì)家庭、感情世界等的關(guān)注；前者通常有一個(gè)個(gè)性鮮明的主人公，而在后斯的悲劇中主人公的地位有時(shí)會(huì)很不明確。
    第三章分析了造成這些區(qū)別的社會(huì)、哲學(xué)、文學(xué)思潮等各種因素，如作家個(gè)人的成長(zhǎng)經(jīng)歷，詹姆斯一世及其宮廷的藝術(shù)品味對(duì)創(chuàng)作的影響。
    第四章探討了所選的六部悲劇中女主人公的性格對(duì)各自悲劇命運(yùn)的影響。
    第五章從社會(huì)角度分析了導(dǎo)致這些女主人公悲劇命運(yùn)的因素，如王室成員或貴族的腐敗墮落對(duì)社會(huì)風(fēng)氣的影響、父權(quán)制對(duì)女性的種種壓制、貪圖享樂(lè)的思想對(duì)青年女性思想的侵蝕、傳統(tǒng)貞操觀對(duì)女性追求自由生活的束縛等等。
    第六章是個(gè)簡(jiǎn)短的小結(jié)。文學(xué)研究的目的之一是對(duì)社會(huì)、對(duì)人有更深入的了解。

作者簡(jiǎn)介

王嵐，1965年出生，1982年考入洛陽(yáng)解決軍外國(guó)語(yǔ)學(xué)院，1998年3月于北京外國(guó)語(yǔ)大學(xué)獲博士學(xué)位。現(xiàn)任解放軍外國(guó)語(yǔ)學(xué)院英語(yǔ)系主任、教授、博士生導(dǎo)師，全國(guó)英國(guó)文學(xué)學(xué)會(huì)常務(wù)理事，河南省外國(guó)文學(xué)學(xué)會(huì)常務(wù)理事。主要研究方向?yàn)橛⒚缿騽?、?dāng)代英國(guó)文學(xué)。近年來(lái)發(fā)表論文20余篇，包括“《盲剌客》：一部加拿大后現(xiàn)代女性主義的杰作”、“反英雄”等。
