這是一本為高等學校成人教育而編寫的英語教材，也可作為網(wǎng)絡教育、夜大、函大、高等?？圃盒：透叩嚷殬I(yè)院校英語教材使用，還可作為自學教材供相應水平的英語愛好者學習使用。 本教材旨在指導學生深入學習課文的基礎(chǔ)上，從讀、寫、譯、聽、說等方面進行語言操練，使學生具備較扎實的英語語言基礎(chǔ)知識、較強的閱讀能力和翻譯能力以及一定的聽和說的能力。 全書共有十六個單元。每個單元都設(shè)計有一個話題及兩篇閱讀文章。它們既相互關(guān)聯(lián)，又各有側(cè)重。圍繞這些與學生生活和學習息息相關(guān)的話題，教師可以安排學生討論，充分發(fā)揮學生的學習主動性。每個單元后還配有相關(guān)的語法知識和情景對話，幫助學生達到能夠比較熟練地應用英語進行交流的目的。
