本書第1章論述修辭學的定義及其與演講術的相互關系。第2章介紹英語修辭學及其產(chǎn)生淵源。第3章分析學習英語修辭的重要意義。第4章討論選詞。第5章討論用句。第6～11章重點討論英語修辭格。其中，第6章討論修辭格的定義、功能及其使用原則；第7章討論音形類修辭格；第8、9章討論句法結(jié)構類修辭格；第10章討論語義類修辭格；第11章討論邏輯類修辭格。為幫助讀者掌握各章內(nèi)容，每章之后均安排思考題或多種形式的練習題，書末安排綜合測試題，并提供部分參考答案。    本書為英語專業(yè)本科學生教材，也可供英語修辭研究者及具備相當英語閱讀能力的其他英語學習者學習參考。
