造船專業(yè)英語

前言

　　隨著改革開放的不斷發(fā)展，我國造船工業(yè)大踏步地進入了國際市場，外語在企業(yè)外向型經濟中的地位和作用日益突出。對于船舶工程技術專業(yè)的學生而言，掌握相關的專業(yè)英語知識，提高運用專業(yè)英語的能力，是今后職業(yè)生涯中不可或缺的。為此，我們編寫了這本《造船專業(yè)英語》教材，奉獻給即將投身于我國造船事業(yè)的廣大學生?！　【幷咴谑占罅繉I(yè)英語相關資料的基礎上，精心摘選了實用性強的文章及部分段落，重新編輯整理，最后形成本書。本書分為三大部分，涉及到船舶理論概述和實踐應用內容，其中船舶理論概述部分包括船舶類型及特征、船舶主尺度、船體結構、船舶性能、船廠設施、船舶制造、船舶建造工藝、船舶設備、船舶系統(tǒng)、涂裝、焊接、試航、船級社、船舶檢驗與維護、修船英語實例等內容；實踐應用內容包括船舶英語對話及船舶常用語兩部分，其中船舶常用語部分采用中英文對照方式編寫，可以作為課后練習或船廠英語口語參考使用。希望讀者在閱讀本書的同時注意理論聯(lián)系實際，增強專業(yè)英語翻譯能力和口語的表達能力，從而提高船舶工程專業(yè)英語的綜合水平。

　　The deck plating is made up of longitudinal strakes of plating across its width. The plates or strakesnearest to the deck edges are termed stringer plates. They are of thicker material than the remainingdeck plating since they form the important join between the side shell and deck plating. Towards the endsof the ship the deck plating, like the shell plating, is reduced in thickness.　　The large openings in the deck for hatchways, engine casings, pump room entrances, etc., requirecompensation to maintain the section modulus of the material. The deck plating abreast of such openings istherefore increased in thickness. The plating between the hatches of a cargo ship is thinner than the rest ofthe deck plating and contributes little to longitudinal strength.　　The plating of the weather decks is cambered towards the ships side to assist drainage of any waterfalling on the deck. This camber is usually of the order of one-fiftieth of the breadth of the ship atmidships.
