內容概要

《美國文學》(修訂版)是以2000年出版的《美國文學》為基礎，根據(jù)作者這些年在美國文學教學中的實踐經驗和同行專家的一些建議，就美國文學的當代部分補充了大量的新內容，以適應學生的需要。    本書分五部分：殖民地時期、美國革命時期、浪漫主義時期、現(xiàn)實主義時期及現(xiàn)代主義時期。19世紀以前的美國文學只是一些信息的報道和宗教的或政治的宣傳，算不上真正意義上的文學，19世紀和20世紀才是美國文學作為獨立的民族文學形成和發(fā)展的鼎盛階段。所以，本書簡略介紹了前兩個時期的文學，用較大篇幅論述了后三個時期的文學。每個時期分為歷史背景、文學和流派特點、作者簡介及重要作品的文體風格和主題思想、重點選文等若干章節(jié)，選文后附有注釋和思考題。
