內(nèi)容概要

在我國當(dāng)前的成人高校公共英語教學(xué)中，教材是一個(gè)突出的問題。由于受種種客觀條件的制約，目前統(tǒng)編成人高校公共英語教材幾乎沒有，大部分成人院校只能靠使用普通高校的公共英語教材來進(jìn)行日常的教學(xué)。實(shí)際上，由于教材，的因素，很多教師根本不知道應(yīng)該講授些什么，學(xué)生也不知道應(yīng)該學(xué)習(xí)些什么，從而導(dǎo)致教學(xué)方式呆板、無的放矢和沒有“新”內(nèi)容的教學(xué)過程時(shí)有發(fā)生。學(xué)生覺得課程枯燥乏味，興趣日益減少，教學(xué)效果不夠明顯。為了真正提高成人英語教學(xué)質(zhì)量，使學(xué)生確實(shí)能夠利用英語這一工具來學(xué)習(xí)國外的先進(jìn)科學(xué)技術(shù)，成人英語教學(xué)的教材必須實(shí)行全面改革。但教材的選擇必須具有科學(xué)性，選編的教材必須與學(xué)生各階段的知識(shí)能有機(jī)地銜接在一起，這樣才能保證和發(fā)揮教材在培養(yǎng)語言能力中的作用。與此同時(shí)，教學(xué)方法也應(yīng)該大力改進(jìn)，改進(jìn)的目標(biāo)應(yīng)該以突出“新穎”為主，讓學(xué)生能在新鮮感的作用下，趣味盎然地進(jìn)行學(xué)習(xí)。改進(jìn)后的教學(xué)方法應(yīng)是以鍛煉學(xué)生語言實(shí)際運(yùn)用能力為主要教學(xué)目的。    著名的加拿大教學(xué)法專家，L2教學(xué)權(quán)威H.H.Stern曾明確指出，“學(xué)會(huì)如何學(xué)習(xí)可能是L2教學(xué)大綱最重要的問題”。他認(rèn)為，因?yàn)椤霸谛W(xué)習(xí)不可能使學(xué)生能應(yīng)付一個(gè)不斷變化的世界中所有新問題”，所以，教育者需要開發(fā)學(xué)生的“自主性”（autonomy），“給他們自助的能力，以及獨(dú)立學(xué)習(xí)的能力”，使其成為“自主的L2學(xué)習(xí)者”，即一個(gè)能“聰明地、有選擇地、有效地處理語言學(xué)習(xí)任務(wù)的學(xué)習(xí)者”（1997）。實(shí)際上，自主學(xué)習(xí)既是“自主的L2學(xué)習(xí)者”的根本學(xué)習(xí)策略，同時(shí)也是他們的學(xué)習(xí)目標(biāo)：在自主學(xué)習(xí)過程中學(xué)會(huì)自主學(xué)習(xí)。只有這樣，學(xué)生們?cè)陔x開教師和課堂乃至大學(xué)畢業(yè)后才能獨(dú)立進(jìn)行英語學(xué)習(xí)和交際，并能在使用中不斷提高英語水平，從而能從容地應(yīng)對(duì)日趨國際化的生存環(huán)境的挑戰(zhàn)。
