內容概要

在我國當前的成人高校公共英語教學中，教材是一個突出的問題。由于受種種客觀條件的制約，目前統(tǒng)編成人高校公共英語教材幾乎沒有，大部分成人院校只能靠使用普通高校的公共英語教材來進行日常的教學。實際上，由于教材，的因素，很多教師根本不知道應該講授些什么，學生也不知道應該學習些什么，從而導致教學方式呆板、無的放矢和沒有“新”內容的教學過程時有發(fā)生。學生覺得課程枯燥乏味，興趣日益減少，教學效果不夠明顯。為了真正提高成人英語教學質量，使學生確實能夠利用英語這一工具來學習國外的先進科學技術，成人英語教學的教材必須實行全面改革。但教材的選擇必須具有科學性，選編的教材必須與學生各階段的知識能有機地銜接在一起，這樣才能保證和發(fā)揮教材在培養(yǎng)語言能力中的作用。與此同時，教學方法也應該大力改進，改進的目標應該以突出“新穎”為主，讓學生能在新鮮感的作用下，趣味盎然地進行學習。改進后的教學方法應是以鍛煉學生語言實際運用能力為主要教學目的。    著名的加拿大教學法專家，L2教學權威H.H.Stern曾明確指出，“學會如何學習可能是L2教學大綱最重要的問題”。他認為，因為“在校學習不可能使學生能應付一個不斷變化的世界中所有新問題”，所以，教育者需要開發(fā)學生的“自主性”（autonomy），“給他們自助的能力，以及獨立學習的能力”，使其成為“自主的L2學習者”，即一個能“聰明地、有選擇地、有效地處理語言學習任務的學習者”（1997）。實際上，自主學習既是“自主的L2學習者”的根本學習策略，同時也是他們的學習目標：在自主學習過程中學會自主學習。只有這樣，學生們在離開教師和課堂乃至大學畢業(yè)后才能獨立進行英語學習和交際，并能在使用中不斷提高英語水平，從而能從容地應對日趨國際化的生存環(huán)境的挑戰(zhàn)。
