內容概要

　　伊麗莎白·芭蕾特·勃朗寧夫人是英國19世紀著名女詩人，她于1806年3月6日誕生于富裕的資產階級家庭，從小熱愛詩歌，八歲開始寫詩，十三歲出版四卷史詩——詠嘆古希臘的馬拉松戰(zhàn)役，十五歲因騎馬墜落，跌斷脊椎和腿骨癱瘓在床；其間遭遇慈母病亡，由其弟愛德華陪同她在鄉(xiāng)間養(yǎng)病，其弟又不幸溺死在窗前她目睹的河水中。
　　詩人忍受著常人難以忍受的悲痛，在疾病中堅強地活下來，把自己的情感全部注入詩中，先后出版了《被縛的普羅米修斯》英譯本（1833年）和詩集《天使們》（1838年）《孩子們的呼聲》（1843年）《詩集——1844》（1844年）等。這些詩集的出版，得到藝術界的公認，讀者的歡迎，好評如潮；她成為英國最優(yōu)秀的詩人。
　　她的詩，也引起了青年詩人羅伯特·勃朗寧的關注，從此，他們開始了長達一年零八個月的通信。愛情終于戰(zhàn)勝了世俗，也戰(zhàn)勝了疾病，勃朗寧夫人奇跡般地重新站立起來。他們先是住在意大利的比薩，后定居風景優(yōu)美的佛羅倫薩。
　　1861年6月29日，女詩人躺在勃朗寧先生的懷里，安詳的閉上了她靈慧的雙眼，幸福地結束了他們碩果累累的十五年。

作者簡介
