　　Alternative Therapy　　As health care costs continually rise in most developed countries，many people are lookingto alternative forms of health therapy both toprevent and cure them from various illnessesand problems.Two of the most popular formsof alternative therapies in the West today areacuPUnctUre and herbal mediCine，both ofwhich have been used for centuries in Asiaand are rooted in ancient Chinese medicine.Inessence，they attempt to treat the source of thehealth problem rather than simply get rid of thesymptoms，which is something that many argue isthe flawed crux of western medicinal techniques.For this reason，many individuals are taking amore holistic approach to their bodies and healthrather than simply looking for a quick cure.Forexample，instead of taking aspirin wheneverthey get headaches，some people will go to anacupuncturist to find out what causes the problemand begin treatments for that specific cause，which wil0 prevent the headaches from returningin the future.0n this way.alternative medicines such as acupuncture and herbal therapy have wonderful preventative potential many modern medicines do not.
