蔡志忠，1948 年2月2日出生于臺(tái)灣彰化茄冬。15歲中途輟學(xué)后只身到臺(tái)北，開始連環(huán)漫畫創(chuàng)作；1971年出任光啟社電視美術(shù)指導(dǎo)；1977年，白手起家，創(chuàng)立遠(yuǎn)東卡通公司；1981年，另創(chuàng)龍卡通公司；此間，拍攝了《 七彩卡通老夫子 》，《 烏龍?jiān)?》等卡通電影，《 老夫子 》曾獲金馬獎(jiǎng)最佳卡通電影長(zhǎng)片獎(jiǎng)；1983年，開始在各報(bào)刊發(fā)表四格漫畫作品，并在新加坡、馬來西亞、香港、日本的報(bào)章長(zhǎng)期連載；1984年，自組個(gè)人漫畫工作室作品；1985年，獲選為臺(tái)灣十大杰出青年；1999年，獲荷蘭克勞斯王子基金會(huì)獎(jiǎng)。
