章節(jié)摘錄
When walking into an American drugstore, most Chinese will be a bit surprised. There are a wide variety of items sold in it, such as candies, cookies, drinks, stationeries, greeting cards, magazines and even cosmetics, toothpaste, washing powder, cigarettes, toilet paper, and diapers. It is like a Chinese grocery store. The only difference is that medicines are also sold here. Some people may doubt whether it is clean to have medicines and food put together. But dont worry. Americans have their reasons to do so, and they have been practicing it as a rule. First, American drugstores are very clean. The authority will not allow any that do not meet the health standards. Second, drugs sold in the store are just remedies for minor illnesses such as headache and fever. Besides, they are well-packed and are separately placed from those well- packed foods. Therefore, they are very safe. Finally, it is very convenient for the public to get those commonly-used drugs while they are shopping for their daily necessities, rather than waste time going to a hospital or a specialized pharmacy.
