內(nèi)容概要

　　本書形式上是一本學(xué)習(xí)指導(dǎo)書，實際上也是一本“美國簡史”或者“美國史概要”。本書雖然簡明扼要但內(nèi)容十分豐富，涵蓋了上至美國工業(yè)化和城市化之始，下到克林頓總統(tǒng)新經(jīng)濟時代的美國政治、經(jīng)濟、外交、文化、教育、科技、社會、觀念、環(huán)境保護等主題；本書從紛繁復(fù)雜的歷史長河中，整理歸納出重要的歷史線索和內(nèi)容，用定義解釋的方法，運用英語的神韻，借助漢語的魅力闡釋美國歷史；本書格式統(tǒng)一，線索清晰，有定義有分析，有詳有略，有助于學(xué)生全面了解美國歷史并掌握重點；本書對重要的專用名詞和學(xué)生不熟悉的人名都有中文標(biāo)注，對字典上難以查到的專業(yè)術(shù)語和專業(yè)縮寫詞都有中文標(biāo)注；本書每章附有與內(nèi)容緊密相關(guān)的練習(xí)題，學(xué)生通過習(xí)題練習(xí)，更易掌握和鞏固所學(xué)內(nèi)容；本書最后還附有學(xué)期總復(fù)習(xí)思考題，通過復(fù)習(xí)思考，可以訓(xùn)0練并提高學(xué)生的綜合分析能力。因此，本書既是一本歷史教科書，又是一本英語教科書；既體現(xiàn)了學(xué)術(shù)上的前瞻性和知識性，又體現(xiàn)了教學(xué)上的指導(dǎo)性和實用性。這在國內(nèi)高校的歷史學(xué)雙語教學(xué)中并不多見，它緩解了目前歷史學(xué)專業(yè)美國史雙語教學(xué)中存在的得失矛盾，為學(xué)生輕松承接中西文化的碰撞和融合、真正實現(xiàn)專業(yè)知識結(jié)構(gòu)國際化指明了方向。
