《大學(xué)英語限時(shí)閱讀》（1—3冊(cè)）是根據(jù)教育部高等教育司頒布的《高職高專教育英語課程教學(xué)基本要求》編寫而成的一套英語閱讀教材，專供高職高專院校學(xué)生使用，既可作大學(xué)英語課堂教學(xué)用書，也可作全國高等學(xué)校英語應(yīng)用能力考試輔導(dǎo)用書，還可以作為大學(xué)生參加大學(xué)英語四級(jí)考試訓(xùn)練用書。它是一套訓(xùn)練學(xué)生閱讀理解能力的由淺人深的英語教學(xué)用書。    本套教材共分三冊(cè)，每?jī)?cè)編寫十個(gè)單元，每個(gè)單元有四篇短文，均有規(guī)定的時(shí)間與詞數(shù)，供學(xué)生閱讀時(shí)參考。每個(gè)單元的主題完全配合學(xué)生所學(xué)英語精讀教材中的各單元的主題內(nèi)容，尤其是外研社出版的高職高專教材《新視野英語教程》，相互補(bǔ)充，有助于提高學(xué)生的英語知識(shí)與應(yīng)用能力的獲取效率。其中，第一冊(cè)內(nèi)容相當(dāng)于大學(xué)英語預(yù)備級(jí)水平；第二冊(cè)內(nèi)容相當(dāng)于英語應(yīng)用能力考試B級(jí)水平；第三冊(cè)內(nèi)容相當(dāng)于英語應(yīng)用能力考試A級(jí)水平。

　　Chinese basketball players have never been so close to theNBA before， but questions remain about how they will adjust tolife in the NBA if they go. Wang Zhizhi， the 2.16-metre centerfor the Bayi Rockets who was chosen by the Dallas Maverickstwo years ago， has finally received permission from authoritiesto travel to Dallas to play for the rest of the NBA season afterhe finishes playing in the Chinese Basketball Associations finalson March 25th. If he has no problems with his visa， Wang willbe the NBAs first Asian player. Wang was chosen by the Mav-ericks in the second round of the 1999 draft， but the Rockets，an army-run club， refused to let him go. After negotiations between the Rockets and NBA representatives， the decisionwas made to allow Wang the chance to try his hand at Americanbasketball， but only for a short period of time. He has to beback to play in the Ninth National Games in November inGuangzhou. Another center who has attracted attention fromthe NBA is Yao Ming， the 2.25-meter star who has led theShanghai Sharks into the final fight with the Rockets this year.The 20-year-olds NBA dreams might be harder to realize.　　......
