為了幫助考生備考新SAT，我們從麥格勞·希爾出版公司引進(jìn)了這套《新SAT官方指南詳解》系列，一共三本：數(shù)學(xué)分冊(cè)、寫(xiě)作分冊(cè)以及閱讀理解分冊(cè)。希望能夠幫助考生吃透新SAT官方指南，從容備考，取得理想的成績(jī)。該系列叢書(shū)的作者均為美國(guó)一線有經(jīng)驗(yàn)的新SAT考試輔導(dǎo)教師，有著豐富的實(shí)戰(zhàn)經(jīng)驗(yàn)，相信該系列圖書(shū)的出版會(huì)為中國(guó)考生帶來(lái)新的備考視角和啟發(fā)。    眾所周知，新SAT考試雖然分為三個(gè)項(xiàng)，分別考查學(xué)生的數(shù)學(xué)能力、分析能力、邏輯推理能力以及語(yǔ)言運(yùn)用能力，而這三項(xiàng)考試卻都是在全英文的環(huán)境下進(jìn)行的。對(duì)于中國(guó)考生來(lái)講，更重要的是理解出題方的思維方式和解題思路，而不是簡(jiǎn)單地記憶英語(yǔ)詞匯；需要的是培養(yǎng)一種英語(yǔ)閱讀素養(yǎng)，從而更快地在規(guī)定時(shí)間內(nèi)完成題目。同時(shí)，逐漸養(yǎng)成的思維方式也會(huì)幫助考生更好地適應(yīng)未來(lái)在大洋彼岸的大學(xué)生活，這也是新SAT考試的目的——幫助學(xué)校了解申請(qǐng)者是否已經(jīng)在智力上為大學(xué)的學(xué)習(xí)做好了準(zhǔn)備。這就是為什么我們從考試的發(fā)源國(guó)——美國(guó)，引進(jìn)出版這套叢書(shū)的目的。施夷長(zhǎng)技以制夷。出于以上考慮，我們針對(duì)不同分項(xiàng)考試的特點(diǎn)，在出版的過(guò)程中對(duì)每?jī)?cè)書(shū)的翻譯做了不同的處理。    數(shù)學(xué)分冊(cè)提供了數(shù)學(xué)術(shù)語(yǔ)英漢詞匯表；關(guān)于數(shù)學(xué)知識(shí)總復(fù)習(xí)部分，我們保留原英文的講解。對(duì)于多數(shù)中國(guó)學(xué)生，SAT數(shù)學(xué)考試部分的內(nèi)容還是比較容易的，考查的知識(shí)基本不出中國(guó)大陸高中數(shù)學(xué)教學(xué)的范圍。考生通過(guò)書(shū)后所附的數(shù)學(xué)術(shù)語(yǔ)英漢對(duì)照詞匯表，能夠不費(fèi)力地理解講解內(nèi)容。保留數(shù)學(xué)的英文復(fù)習(xí)部分的目的是讓學(xué)生能夠有更多的機(jī)會(huì)熟悉這些數(shù)學(xué)術(shù)語(yǔ)和常用表達(dá)，從而在實(shí)際的考試中節(jié)省閱讀題目的時(shí)間。    寫(xiě)作分冊(cè)，除對(duì)考試要求介紹做了翻譯以外，其他的內(nèi)容全部采用英文。這樣的設(shè)計(jì)也是為了讓考生能夠有更多的機(jī)會(huì)了解并理解美國(guó)式的寫(xiě)作要求以及寫(xiě)作方法，從而在考試中避免使用中式英語(yǔ)，并為適應(yīng)未來(lái)留學(xué)生活中的繁重學(xué)業(yè)做好必要的準(zhǔn)備。美國(guó)大學(xué)的很多作業(yè)都是以小論文的方式出現(xiàn)，良好的寫(xiě)作技必然會(huì)大大提高學(xué)習(xí)的效率?？紤]到講解部分可能涉及一些考生不認(rèn)識(shí)的單詞，我們做了一個(gè)詞匯表，供學(xué)生參考。    閱讀分冊(cè)對(duì)題解，也就是答案解析部分采取了特殊處理?？紤]到參加該項(xiàng)考試考生的不同需求以及閱讀理解考試自身的特點(diǎn)，我們對(duì)題解部分做了中文翻譯，并將其放在英文題解的后面，供考生在看英文題解有困難時(shí)使用。我們的建議是，無(wú)論是做對(duì)還是做錯(cuò)了題目，做完題應(yīng)翻閱英文題解。題解給了我們一個(gè)很好地了解美國(guó)人思維方式的機(jī)會(huì)，應(yīng)充分利用并加以體會(huì)。否則就沒(méi)有將該套叢書(shū)利用徹底。

　　Some expensive test-prep companies use a marketing trick called "Hemingway would fail the SAT essay" to selltheir services. They present a short piece by a great writer, and then tell you that it would receive a low score on theSAT. They would like you to think, "Well, if Hemingway would fail the essay, I certainly need special help to pass it."Theyd also like you to think, "What kind of dopes at the ETS would write a test that even Hemingway would fail！" Ifyou can be convinced that the SAT is dumb and irrational, you will probably think that you need the special help thatthese companies sell.These companies conveniently neglect to tell us three important things. First, they, not Ernest Hemingway, chose theexcerpt and decided where it would begin ar/d end. Second, Hemingway did not write the excerpt in response to anSAT assignment. In fact, he wrote it for a very different purpose. And third, the test-prep companies, not trained SATreaders, scored the essay. Their goal is to make the SAT scoring system seem as irrational as possible, so that youbelieve you need their help.Dont be fooled, The SAT is not biased against good writing and toward mindless formulas, although some test-prepcompanies would like to convince you that it is. Before signing up for a class or tutorial, find out whether it teachesyou to master the persuasive writing process, or merely to memorize "insiders tricks" that supposedly apply only tothe SAT.
