內容概要

隱喻的研究從古希臘時代開始就引起眾多學者的注意。亞里士多德將隱喻定義為“把屬于一事物的詞用到另一事物上”。古典傳統(tǒng)修辭學認為隱喻是一種語言的“偏離”或“寄生”現象,獨立于人類認知系統(tǒng)之外;其本質是對語言的“裝飾”功能。因此,隱喻研究長期停留在語言修辭的層面,處于邊緣化狀態(tài)。隨著20世紀80年代認知語言學的崛起,人類開始探索體驗性認知在語言的形成、發(fā)展和使用過程中所起的主導作用。倘若我們說認知語言學是研究語言上的特征如何反映人類對客觀世界的認知,那么隱喻則為我們提供了闡明這一關系的生動實例。《我們所賴以生存的隱喻》一書的出版,標志著認知隱喻理論的誕生,隱喻不再僅局限于一種話語現象,而是被提升到認知的層次。隱喻研究從此有了質的突破,進入了跨學科、跨領域的時代。
