內(nèi)容概要

首先，本書是一本通俗的英漢雙語讀物，寫作目的在于：    一、為樂于用英漢兩種語言去感悟中國歷史地理的讀者，提供一個(gè)藍(lán)本。同時(shí)，為英語教學(xué)工作者、學(xué)習(xí)者及愛好者拓展未知視野，營造一個(gè)更為廣闊的認(rèn)知空間。    二、中華民族經(jīng)歷了五千年歲月，其歷史輝煌燦爛，源遠(yuǎn)流長。本書通過簡潔的敘述，將中國歷史地理的輪廓清晰地顯現(xiàn)出來。本書可以作為外國朋友認(rèn)識中國、了解中國、研習(xí)漢語的參考讀物。    其次，作者試圖為國內(nèi)大中學(xué)提供一門通識課程的教材藍(lán)本。    一、語言教學(xué)的最終目的是教會學(xué)生熟練地應(yīng)用一門語言。目前，我國英語教學(xué)，特別是中學(xué)英語教學(xué)效率普遍較低。教學(xué)過程和目標(biāo)重應(yīng)試、輕應(yīng)用，這樣培養(yǎng)出來的學(xué)生已不能滿足社會發(fā)展對英語人才，特別是高端英語人才的需要。如何實(shí)現(xiàn)學(xué)生應(yīng)試與應(yīng)用能力的雙贏，是擺在廣大英語教學(xué)工作者面前的一項(xiàng)迫切任務(wù)。基于國內(nèi)英語教學(xué)的現(xiàn)狀，本書試圖為中學(xué)系統(tǒng)開設(shè)一門通識課程提供一個(gè)教材藍(lán)本。此外，本書也可以作為高校通識課程教材，特別是師范院校培養(yǎng)英漢雙語師資的教材，其內(nèi)容的深度和廣度可結(jié)合學(xué)生的情況，通過與本書配套的多媒體課件加以擴(kuò)展和延伸。    二、為了提升讀者的英語應(yīng)用能力，除傳統(tǒng)題目類型外，本書加大了無標(biāo)準(zhǔn)答案的能力發(fā)揮題目的比重。設(shè)計(jì)的題目類型強(qiáng)調(diào)了對學(xué)生英語主觀應(yīng)用能力的考察，以期培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的分析類比能力和求異思維能力。    三、與本書配套的還有多媒體課件及教輔參考書。本書單詞拼寫與生詞發(fā)音主要以英式英語為準(zhǔn)。練習(xí)中的聽力部分，教師可根據(jù)實(shí)際情況，自行設(shè)計(jì)。為了讓學(xué)生能單獨(dú)地使用本書的上篇和下篇，兩部分中的生詞和短語是分別列出的。
