前言
我國(guó)的改革開(kāi)放走過(guò)了三十余年的路程。這三十多年來(lái),為了學(xué)習(xí)西方先進(jìn)的科學(xué)技術(shù)和文化藝術(shù),我國(guó)各行各業(yè)都在學(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ),甚至出現(xiàn)過(guò)全民學(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ)的熱潮?;仡欉@種大規(guī)模的英語(yǔ)教育,我們既有成功,也有失敗。說(shuō)成功,是因?yàn)楹芏嗳说挠⒄Z(yǔ)水平獲得了大幅提高;說(shuō)失敗,是因?yàn)橛⒄Z(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)的"費(fèi)時(shí)低效"問(wèn)題仍未得到很好的解決?! 〗裉?,經(jīng)過(guò)三十余年的發(fā)展,我們的國(guó)力雄厚了,國(guó)際地位提高了,我們的科學(xué)技術(shù)和文化藝術(shù)開(kāi)始走出國(guó)門(mén),走向世界。那么我們還需要學(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ)嗎?答案是肯定的。在經(jīng)濟(jì)全球化、文化多元化的背景下,我國(guó)與其他國(guó)家在政治、經(jīng)濟(jì)、科技、文藝等方面的交流日益頻繁,而能擔(dān)當(dāng)這一國(guó)際交流工具的語(yǔ)言目前仍然只有英語(yǔ)。漢語(yǔ)要?jiǎng)偃芜@一角色或許還要再過(guò)三十年。因此,我們應(yīng)該繼續(xù)學(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ)。但是,我們必須打破以應(yīng)試為目標(biāo)的英語(yǔ)教育模式,提倡"實(shí)用為主、夠用為度"的原則,以培養(yǎng)學(xué)生實(shí)際應(yīng)用語(yǔ)言的能力為目標(biāo),突出教學(xué)內(nèi)容的實(shí)用性與針對(duì)性。同時(shí)根據(jù)不同專業(yè)和不同學(xué)科的具體要求,多層次、多渠道地開(kāi)展英語(yǔ)教學(xué),以適應(yīng)社會(huì)對(duì)英語(yǔ)人才需求呈現(xiàn)多元化、專業(yè)化發(fā)展趨勢(shì)的要求?! ∪藗兂Uf(shuō)語(yǔ)言是載體。我們學(xué)習(xí)其他學(xué)科的知識(shí)都要通過(guò)語(yǔ)言這個(gè)載體。換言之,科學(xué)技術(shù)、文化藝術(shù)等學(xué)科的專業(yè)知識(shí)既可以用漢語(yǔ)表述,又可以用英語(yǔ)表述。逆向思考一下,如果以科技、文化、藝術(shù)等為專業(yè)的人通過(guò)用英語(yǔ)表述的專業(yè)書(shū)籍來(lái)學(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ)知識(shí),那么他們的專業(yè)就成了學(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ)的栽體。事實(shí)上,無(wú)論我們是用專業(yè)還是用日常生活作為內(nèi)容來(lái)進(jìn)行教學(xué),只要表述的語(yǔ)言是英語(yǔ),其基本的語(yǔ)言規(guī)則就是一樣的,不同的只是運(yùn)用的詞匯和某些特定的表達(dá)方式而已??萍加⒄Z(yǔ)、經(jīng)貿(mào)英語(yǔ)、法律英語(yǔ)等就是利用專業(yè)為載體來(lái)學(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ)的實(shí)例。其優(yōu)勢(shì)是將各學(xué)科的專業(yè)內(nèi)容和英語(yǔ)教學(xué)密切結(jié)合起來(lái),讓學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)自己最熟悉、最感興趣的話題,這樣就能最大限度地激發(fā)學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)熱情,從而獲得最佳的學(xué)習(xí)效果,解決"費(fèi)時(shí)低效"的問(wèn)題。 我很高興看到華中科技大學(xué)出版社推出了《實(shí)用藝術(shù)英語(yǔ)教程》一書(shū)。該教材依據(jù)英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)的特點(diǎn)和規(guī)律,有機(jī)地結(jié)合了文化藝術(shù)的專業(yè)內(nèi)容,在注重打好英語(yǔ)語(yǔ)言基礎(chǔ)的同時(shí),側(cè)重培養(yǎng)學(xué)生使用英語(yǔ)進(jìn)行藝術(shù)類相關(guān)領(lǐng)域的涉外交際能力。教材內(nèi)容豐富、體例新穎、語(yǔ)言難易適中,既有利于學(xué)生掌握基本的英語(yǔ)知識(shí)和技能,又有利于他們拓寬藝術(shù)視野、豐富藝術(shù)感受,不失為上乘的藝術(shù)類英語(yǔ)教材。而且這套教材也是利用藝術(shù)為載體來(lái)進(jìn)行英語(yǔ)教學(xué)的極好嘗試,值得祝賀!

1 Jazz has become one of the most popular dance styles inrecent years, mainly due to its popularity on television shows,movies, music videos and commercials. People enjoy watchingjazz dancing, as the dancing is fun and energetic. 2 Jazz dancing is a form of dance that showcases a dancersindividual style and originality. Every jazz dancer interprets andexecutes moves and steps in their own way. Jazz dancing isenergetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork,big leaps and quick turns. To excel in jazz,dancers needa strong background in ballet, as it encourages grace andbalance.What to Wear3 Jazz classes are casual and relaxed,so feel free to selectyour own clothing. A dancers body lines need to be visible,however, so baggy clothes are generally discouraged. Tightsand leotards are fine, but most jazz dancers prefer to wear jazzor dance pants. Tops usually worn for jazz include form-fittingtank tops, T-shirts or leotards. Check with your teacher beforebuying jazz shoes, as many classes have preferences.
