《大學(xué)英語(yǔ)閱讀教程》是以外語(yǔ)教學(xué)理論為指導(dǎo),全面貫徹《大學(xué)英語(yǔ)課程教學(xué)要求》的精神編寫而成的,通過(guò)拓展閱讀,學(xué)生能夠提高英語(yǔ)水平、開(kāi)拓知識(shí)視野。本教程是針對(duì)大學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)特點(diǎn)和英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)現(xiàn)狀而編寫的,共四冊(cè)。    根據(jù)新頒布的《大學(xué)英語(yǔ)課程教學(xué)要求》,快速閱讀的速度應(yīng)為每分鐘100個(gè)單詞;能掌握國(guó)內(nèi)英文報(bào)刊文章的中心意思,理解主要事實(shí)和有關(guān)細(xì)節(jié);能讀懂工作、生活中常見(jiàn)的應(yīng)用文體材料。為了適應(yīng)這一要求,在新改革后的大學(xué)英語(yǔ)四、六級(jí)考試中,快速閱讀理解部分的分值比例為10%。本教程以敏銳的眼光捕捉到了這一變化,始終把快速閱讀能力的培養(yǎng)放在首位,以閱讀技巧、閱讀方法為主線,體現(xiàn)“精講多練”的原則,旨在使學(xué)生能按《大學(xué)英語(yǔ)課程教學(xué)要求》,掌握閱讀技巧,高效、快速閱讀中等水平的一般性題材的英語(yǔ)文章,能進(jìn)行一定的分析、推理和判斷,以促進(jìn)應(yīng)試能力及實(shí)際應(yīng)用能力的提高。    本教程共分四冊(cè),第一冊(cè)圍繞“運(yùn)用語(yǔ)言技能理解文章”這一層面的閱讀技能展開(kāi)訓(xùn)練;第二冊(cè)重點(diǎn)解析和訓(xùn)練“辨別和理解中心思想和重要細(xì)節(jié)”這一層面的閱讀技能;第三冊(cè)訓(xùn)練“運(yùn)用專門的閱讀技能(略讀、查讀)”這一層面的閱讀技能;第四冊(cè)提高難度,把前三冊(cè)的閱讀技能貫穿于其中。每?jī)?cè)分為8個(gè)單元,各單元由同一題材的2篇文章、生詞注釋、有關(guān)文化背景介紹、練習(xí)等組成。為了配合學(xué)生參加大學(xué)英語(yǔ)四、六級(jí)考試,每個(gè)單元增加了閱讀訓(xùn)練部分,由3篇配有選擇練習(xí)題的小短文組成;同時(shí)在主課文的練習(xí)中,增加了漢譯英練習(xí)。    本套教程的編寫體現(xiàn)了如下特點(diǎn)。    (1)本教程由具有豐富的教學(xué)經(jīng)驗(yàn)的大學(xué)英語(yǔ)教師分工協(xié)作、集體編寫而成,具有很強(qiáng)的專業(yè)性。      (2)本教程在編寫過(guò)程中充分吸收我國(guó)在外語(yǔ)教學(xué)方面長(zhǎng)期積累起來(lái)的行之有效的經(jīng)驗(yàn)和方法,取各家之長(zhǎng),兼容并蓄,能適應(yīng)多種英語(yǔ)教學(xué)的要求。    (3)本教程旨在通過(guò)教師的“精講”和學(xué)生的“多練”來(lái)提高學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)的主動(dòng)性、積極性和創(chuàng)造性。    (4)本教程選用當(dāng)代英語(yǔ)常見(jiàn)語(yǔ)體或文體的典型樣本作為素材,內(nèi)容新穎,搜選范圍主要是近五年來(lái)英美國(guó)家出版的圖書、報(bào)紙、雜志或最新的網(wǎng)絡(luò)文章,涵蓋教育、科技、政治、經(jīng)濟(jì)和文化等各個(gè)方面,閱讀文章素材具有時(shí)代性、可讀性、文化教育性和針對(duì)性。        (5)本教程練習(xí)題型的設(shè)計(jì)均按照最新的大學(xué)英語(yǔ)四、六級(jí)考試標(biāo)準(zhǔn)和難度進(jìn)行。

  Reading between the lines means drawing understanding about the authors ideas from what is written and from what is not written. Making inferences relies on the context clues, logical thinking, common sense and sometimes our knowledge of the world and on what is written or what is not written. Writers dont always express all their thoughts openly, either as a matter of style, or because they assume we know and share their opinions, or because they arent sure how to express themselves.  Instructions and requests are about more than just grammar. When you make an instruction or a request, you want someone to do something for you. If you get this important social interaction wrong, you might offend your boss, your friends, or your boyfriend/girlfriend. Some requests show that the person you are speaking to can choose to do as you want. Other ways of speaking indicate that if the request is not followed there will be trouble. But unfortunately, you cant decide to be safe and use only very polite requests. This is because English people sometimes use very polite requests as a way of being sarcastic, which is very rude and offensive. So to learn how not to make these mistakes, you will read the text below.
