計(jì)算機(jī)應(yīng)用英語(yǔ)

前言

對(duì)于高職高專的計(jì)算機(jī)專業(yè)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)而言，編寫(xiě)一本比較合適的教材十分必要，因此我們償試在這一方面編寫(xiě)本作一探索。高職高專的計(jì)算機(jī)英語(yǔ)教材該是怎樣的，包括哪些內(nèi)容，深淺程度如何，都是我們一直在思考的問(wèn)題。我們由一線教師組成的編寫(xiě)組經(jīng)討論一致認(rèn)為，教材一定要適合大部分高職高專學(xué)生的實(shí)際水平。這包括兩個(gè)方面：首先，要考慮他們的實(shí)際英語(yǔ)水平，希望學(xué)生借助詞典就能看懂教材；其次，所選內(nèi)容必須是他們這一層次的，這樣才能學(xué)以致用，同時(shí)所選的內(nèi)容一定要使學(xué)生感興趣，學(xué)生不僅僅能學(xué)到專業(yè)英語(yǔ)詞匯，而且能擴(kuò)大知識(shí)面，并能獲得一些有趣的小知識(shí)。在內(nèi)容上也應(yīng)分層次，對(duì)于英語(yǔ)水平較高的和感興趣的學(xué)生，應(yīng)為他們補(bǔ)充有關(guān)的閱讀材料，供他們課余時(shí)間閱讀，提高他們的實(shí)際閱讀能力。本教材的使用對(duì)象是高中畢業(yè)后受過(guò)兩年高職普通英語(yǔ)教育的高職學(xué)生，他們已掌握相應(yīng)的基本英語(yǔ)詞匯和常用語(yǔ)法。經(jīng)過(guò)對(duì)本教材的60～80學(xué)時(shí)學(xué)習(xí)，學(xué)生能掌握數(shù)百個(gè)科技和專業(yè)詞匯，基本能看懂有關(guān)計(jì)算機(jī)及其零部件的說(shuō)明書(shū)和廣告、能基本理解各種軟件的操作提示和幫助說(shuō)明、能上網(wǎng)瀏覽計(jì)算機(jī)英語(yǔ)世界。

內(nèi)容概要

本書(shū)主要用英語(yǔ)介紹了PC機(jī)的主要硬件和一些常用軟件，也介紹了一些網(wǎng)上知識(shí)。硬件知識(shí)主要包括中央處理器、主板、芯片組、顯卡、聲卡、多媒體、打印機(jī)、硬盤和顯示器等方面。軟件知識(shí)包括操作系統(tǒng)軟件如DOS、windows、unix和Linux；辦公軟件如Microsoft Word、MicrosoftExcel；數(shù)據(jù)庫(kù)軟件及語(yǔ)言等方面。網(wǎng)絡(luò)知識(shí)包括：  Network、Internet等方面。本教材所選用的材料都能反映當(dāng)前計(jì)算機(jī)技術(shù)的新發(fā)展。    本書(shū)的內(nèi)容比較淺顯，但覆蓋的計(jì)算機(jī)知識(shí)面較廣，也比較實(shí)用，適合計(jì)算機(jī)類和工科類高職、高專學(xué)生使用，也可以供廣大計(jì)算機(jī)愛(ài)好者和其他計(jì)算機(jī)用戶參閱。

Problem：1 get erratic，nonreplicable problems，such as Windows blue screens and occasionalbuffer underruns．Solution：There are lots ofpossible causes，but it'S probably one ofthese three：Your drive isdying and should be replaced；dust or other particles are flying around inside the drive and need tobe carefully vacuumed out；or your drive'S Direct Memory Access（DMA）setting may be wrong．The DMA feature lets a drive bypass the system'S CPU and retrieve information directly frommemory．Most drives run faster when DMA is enabled，but some，such as those from Yamaha，should have DMA disabled．To do this，the select Control Panel in the Windows Start menu，choose the System icon，click the Device Manager tab，click the CDROM item，select the drive，click the Properties button，then the Settings tab，and uncheck the DMA box．Check your drive'Sdocumentation，and use the recommended settings．If DMA isn't discussed，try enabling it（ordisabling it，as the case may be）and see if the erratic behavior vanishes．Problem：Should I buy a drive that'S labeled MultiRead？Answer：MultiRead is a specification developed and supported by several manufacturers toensure that a drive will read all current CD media and formats．Any drive labeled MultiReadshould read just about anything you throw at it．However,many new drives that aren't labeledMultiRead can still read these CD formats．Check the manufacturer'S specs before you buy．Problem：Why does my mastering software take SO long to write files on-the-fly？Solution：If you haven't run the mastering software'S hard drive transfer-rate tests，it mayassume your system is too slow to write on the fly and，by default，is creating an image of eachfile on hard disk before writing it tO CD-R．Run the hard-disk tests and the problem shoulddisappear．
