內(nèi)容概要

新世紀(jì)的鐘聲催促著大學(xué)英語教學(xué)改革和提高的步伐,每一位教師都在尋求一套不落俗套而又能滿足學(xué)生閱讀需求的教材,各高校的莘莘學(xué)子也在找尋一套能通過閱讀提高應(yīng)用技能的書本。《大學(xué)英語教學(xué)大綱》(修訂本)明確指出:“閱讀是掌握語言知識(shí)、打好語言基礎(chǔ)、獲取信息的重要渠道。閱讀能力是大部分大學(xué)生今后工作所需的主要語言技能。”特別是在我國加入世界貿(mào)易組織以后,全面提高大學(xué)生的閱讀能力,以及與之相輔相成的聽、說、寫、譯等技能已越來越重要。外教社深深地認(rèn)識(shí)到閱讀在大學(xué)英語教學(xué)中的重要性,多年來一直朝著這個(gè)方向不斷地發(fā)掘好的選題。我們知道,現(xiàn)在的老師和學(xué)生對閱讀教材的需求不僅僅停留在傳統(tǒng)的通過大量閱讀,然后完成幾個(gè)對文章內(nèi)容理解性的問題上了;他們更需要的是通過使用教材培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的閱讀技能,以及培養(yǎng)學(xué)生通過閱讀獲取信息、運(yùn)用信息的能力??梢哉f國外在閱讀教材的編寫方面是走在我們前面的。        經(jīng)過長時(shí)間的醞釀,在“大學(xué)生英語閱讀教材”的開發(fā)上,外教社同世界著名的麥克米倫出版集團(tuán)聯(lián)手合作。這家以出版教材為主的跨國集團(tuán)在2002年對中國15,000位大學(xué)非英語專業(yè)學(xué)生進(jìn)行了一次廣泛的調(diào)研,了解當(dāng)今中國大學(xué)生最感興趣的閱讀話題。通過這次可能是迄今為止該類項(xiàng)目在中國境內(nèi)最大規(guī)模的調(diào)研,篩選出了120個(gè)話題,作為合作項(xiàng)目的參考。在外教社的精心策劃和麥克米倫的通力配合下,針對中國市場的全套一共6冊的《大學(xué)英語創(chuàng)意閱讀》終于問世了。

  Independent students like to think for themselves and prefer working on their own but will listen to others.They are confident of their abilities and will learn what they feeIis important and necessary.By contrast,dependent learners have little intellectual curiosity and learn only what is required.They see the teacher as a source of structure and look to his/her authority to guide the learning process and answer questions.
