章節(jié)摘錄
Hunts approach gives insight into the writing process by investigating the end-product of that process. However, it can also be studied by analyzing what writers door think during writing. Bereiter and Scardamalia offer some evidence to back up theknowledge-telling model, explained in Section 13.1, in giving data about the writingprocess. They asked inexperienced writers to think aloud during writing. These think-aloud protocols show that very little attention is given to the rhetorical aspects of texts. There is also, according to the model, little attention given to planning or revision. Onthe basis of these findings Bereiter and Scardamalia did research to ascertain whetherplanning is a factor in the development of writing skills. They had a number of pupils, aged 10, 12, and 14, write an essay on the topic: "Should children be able to choose thesubjects they study in school?" The participants were asked to plan out loud and makenotes for as long as possible before actually starting to write. Below are two representa-tive examples of notes and written text.
