前言

  21世紀(jì)是知識(shí)經(jīng)濟(jì)的時(shí)代。知識(shí)經(jīng)濟(jì)的主要特征就是經(jīng)濟(jì)和信息的全球化。在這種發(fā)展趨勢下,外語理所當(dāng)然地成為人類進(jìn)入21世紀(jì)的通行證,是人類促進(jìn)和平、繁榮經(jīng)濟(jì)、發(fā)展科技的重要工具?! ∪珖谝慌鈬Z學(xué)校誕生于1963年。隨著我國改革開放的深入發(fā)展,全國各地先后辦起了不同類型的外國語學(xué)校。外國語學(xué)校的誕生,為我國外語人才的培養(yǎng)、為我國經(jīng)濟(jì)建設(shè)的發(fā)展作出了積極的貢獻(xiàn)?! ⊥鈬Z學(xué)校是具有專業(yè)性教育的學(xué)校。它以外語教學(xué)為特色,同時(shí)全面發(fā)展中學(xué)的其他學(xué)科?!巴鈬Z學(xué)校的英語教學(xué)是中學(xué)英語教學(xué)的最高層次,是我國英語教學(xué)的領(lǐng)頭羊?!鄙鐣?huì)上廣泛使用的《看、聽、學(xué)》(3L系列教材)、《新概念英語》、《展望未來英語教程》等教材都是首先在外國語學(xué)校試用后逐步走向社會(huì)的。毋庸置疑,在黨和政府的關(guān)心、指導(dǎo)下,在廣大人民群眾的理解和支持下,全國外國語學(xué)校過去辦學(xué)的歷史是輝煌的。形勢的發(fā)展、社會(huì)的進(jìn)步呼喚外國語學(xué)校必須要有一套教學(xué)理念新穎、教學(xué)內(nèi)容豐富、教學(xué)手段創(chuàng)新、適合我國國情的英語教材。為此,全國外國語學(xué)校工作理事會(huì)在1999年通過決議:集中全國外國語學(xué)校的精兵強(qiáng)將,依托全國外國語學(xué)校豐富的英語教學(xué)經(jīng)驗(yàn),編寫出一套符合我國外國語學(xué)校(包括重點(diǎn)中學(xué))英語教學(xué)情況的英語系列教材,使外國語學(xué)校在外語教學(xué)方面真正起到示范性、輻射性的作用,不辜負(fù)國家教育部、各地政府、廣大人民群眾對(duì)外國語學(xué)校寄予的殷切希望。通過數(shù)年的努力,《英語(全國外國語學(xué)校系列教材)》初中教材已全部編寫完成并出版,得到了英語教學(xué)專家的一致肯定和使用師生的熱烈歡迎,并且也順利通過了教育部的審定?,F(xiàn)在,《英語(全國外國語學(xué)校系列教材)》高中教材正式出版了。

  Resign Speech of Jordan, the Basketball Player  I am here to announce my retirement from the game of basketball. It wont be anotherannouncement to baseball or anything to that nature.  Mentally, Im exhausted, I dont feel I have a challenge. Physically, I feel great. The lasttime in 1993 1 had other agendas. I felt that I wanted to play baseball and I felt that at my age,it was a good opportunity and time to do it. And with the death of my father, I was basicallytrying to deal with that.  Actually I talked to Jerry last year once the season ended and I told Jerry at that time,mentally, I was a little exhausted. I didnt know if I would play next year. I wanted to put himon awareness so that he could possibly prepare going into next season. And Jerry, once wehad our conversation, wanted me to take time as I did in 1993 to make sure that it was theright decision because it was going to be the final decision.  I retired the first time when Phil Jackson was the coach. And I think that even with Philbeing the coach I would have had a tough time, mentally finding the challenge for myself.Although he can somehow present challenges for me. I dont know if he could have pre-sented the challenge for me to continue on to this season. Even though middle way of thisseason I wanted to continue to play a couple more years, but at the end of this season I wasmentally drained and tired. So I cant say that he would have restored that.  I will support the Chicago Bulls. I think the game itself is a lot bigger than MichaelJordan. Ive been given an opportunity by people before me, to name a few, Kareem AbdulJabar, Doctor J, Eljohn Bayler, Jerry West. These guys played the game way before MichaelJordan was born and Michael Jordan came on the heels of all that activity. Mr. Stern and whathes done for the league, gave me an opportunity to play the game of basketball. I played it tothe best I could play it, I tried to enhance the game itself. Ive tried to be the best basketballplayer that I could be.
