內容概要

大學英語教學大綱(修訂本)規(guī)定大學英語教學分為基礎階段(一至二年級)和應用提高階段(三至四年級)。應用提高階段的教學包括專業(yè)英語(Subject．Based English，簡稱SBE)和高級英語(Advanced English，簡稱AE)兩部分。大綱明確指出：“大學英語教學的目的是培養(yǎng)學生具有較強的閱讀能力和一定的聽、說、寫、譯能力，使他們能用英語交流信息?！赃m應社會發(fā)展和經濟建設的需要?！毙率兰o對人才在外語方面提出了更高的要求。抓好大學英語應用提高階段的教學已勢在必行。編寫本教材的目的是幫助理工科學生在應用提高階段進一步發(fā)展、鞏固和提高基礎階段已掌握的讀、聽、寫、說、譯五種技能，并使部分有一定口語基礎的學生在聽說能力方面也能有較大的提高，以適應21世紀對高級人才的需求。    本教材主要適用于已完成基礎階段學習的高等學校理工科本科生，為應用提高階段的必修課和選修課教材，也可用作研究生教學或工程技術人員的外語培訓教材。    全套教材由專業(yè)教師和英語教師合作編寫而成。它以英國語言學家H．G．Widdowson的交際法理論為依據(jù)，著重解決語言運用能力的培養(yǎng)問題，使學生將基礎階段已掌握的英語語言知識和技能在自己的專業(yè)領域中得到進一步實踐和應用，從而達到能以英語為工具獲取和交流信息的教學目的。
