前言
《高級(jí)音樂英語(yǔ)教程》中二十篇課文分別選自《音樂思想史》(A History D,Musical Thought,1975)、《20世紀(jì)作曲技巧》(Twentieth-Century Techniques,1978)、《當(dāng)代音調(diào)結(jié)構(gòu)》(Conternporary Tone-Structure,1955)、《音樂認(rèn)知心理學(xué)》(Cognitive Psychology of,Music,1985)和《音樂美學(xué)史》(History of Music Aesthetics,1982)。

The visit to Vienna having been thus successful and profitable, a longertour was planned. In 1763 they set out for Paris, visiting many minor centers onthe way. There Wolf gang gave even more remarkable proofs of his genius, playing the organ, the clavier, and the violin, playing faultlessly —— and eventransposing- difficult pieces at sight, and improvising accompaniments tosongs he had never heard. Four sonatas for piano and violin by the little masterwere printed when he was seven years old. The Paris success was soon repeated in London where they went in April,1764, remaining until July, 1765. In London at the newly opened Italian operaWolf gang for the first time heard singers of the highest rank. From thisexperience dates Mozarts interest in the opera —— perhaps the strongest of hismusical passions. A year was now spent at home in the most severe study of counterpoint andcomposition. One of the fruits of this work was an oratorio. He wrote also acantata and some incidental music for the annual Latin play at the University. In January, 1768, Leopold Mozart took his family to Vienna where wasencountered much misfortune in the shape of jealous intrigue. The EmperorJoseph was parsimonious, the court was indifferent, and the public dared notshow any independent enthusiasm. Under the circumstances the musicians werejealous of any success won by the young prodigy.
