內(nèi)容概要

Starting with a precise formulation of the theory and an account of the necessary background of the theory and an account of the necessary backgroud of differential geometry, the significance of space-time curvature is discussed and the global properties of a number of exact solutions of Einstein’s field equations are examined. The theory of the causal structure of a general spacetime is developed, and is used to study black holes and to prove a number of theorems establishing the inevitability of singularities under certain conditions. These conditions are shown to be satisfied in the vicinity of stars of more than twice the solar mass near the endpoint of their nuclear evolution, and in a time-reversed sense for the universe as a whole. In the first case, the singularity is inside a black hole, and in the second case, it is the initial singularity in our past. A discussion of the Cauchy problem for General Relativity is also included in the book.

  •   內(nèi)容不用說(shuō)了,經(jīng)典中的經(jīng)典。特別值得一提的是,這本書(shū)的印刷很好,感覺(jué)湖南科學(xué)技術(shù)出版社有霍金情節(jié),出版了幾本他的書(shū)了,而且每本印刷都很好,跟可惡的世界圖書(shū)出版社的印刷相比,真是相當(dāng)不錯(cuò)了。
  •   大家之作,雖說(shuō)我很喜歡,讀起來(lái)卻很費(fèi)勁.因?yàn)槭呛脮?shū)
  •   非常經(jīng)典的一本著作適合學(xué)物理的boy欣賞呵呵
  •   收到書(shū)才發(fā)現(xiàn),內(nèi)容實(shí)在太專業(yè)了,我看不懂,尤其那些公式。但是霍金是我的偶像,所以這本書(shū)將用來(lái)收藏。
  •   數(shù)學(xué)概念還是比較清晰的,不過(guò)物理概念就有待提高了。印刷比較好,比較容易收藏,感覺(jué)對(duì)眼睛有保護(hù)作用。建議對(duì)物理學(xué)感興趣的人看一看。
  •   書(shū)的邊角有些污痕,因?yàn)橘I來(lái)送人的,感覺(jué)心里有點(diǎn)疙瘩
