作者簡介

阿瑟·柯南·道爾Arthur Conan
Doyle（1859—1930），英國著名小說家，因成功塑造歇洛克·福爾摩斯這一人物而成為偵探小說歷史上最重要的作家之一。福爾摩斯的形象也因而享譽世界。他生于愛丁堡，后入愛丁堡大學(xué)學(xué)醫(yī)。畢業(yè)后開診所，僅能維持生活。閑時開始創(chuàng)作小說，因福爾摩斯偵探故事被人熟知和喜愛。后在《最后一案》中讓福爾摩斯死去，引起諸多讀者砸其家玻璃發(fā)泄不滿，遂在《空屋》一案中讓福爾摩斯復(fù)活。福爾摩斯探案系列使他躋身最成功的作家之列，如果要找一位和他相匹敵的作家，那只能是創(chuàng)作了俠盜亞森·羅賓的法國作家莫里斯·勒布朗。除偵探小說，柯南道爾還涉足科幻小說，歷史小說、愛情小說、戲劇、詩歌等領(lǐng)域。
