中美中西部合作論壇

內(nèi)容概要

2009年11月10“中美中西部合作論壇”在河南省鄭州舉辦。該論壇由河南省人民政府、中國人民對外友好協(xié)會、美國堪薩斯州政府、美國中西部中國協(xié)會共同主辦。論壇的成功舉辦為搭建中美兩國中西部地區(qū)攜手合作，共同發(fā)展的新平臺，增進(jìn)兩地區(qū)間資源、科技等優(yōu)勢互補(bǔ)，促進(jìn)共同繁榮與發(fā)展起到了良好的效應(yīng)。本書記錄了“中美中西部合作論壇”的盛況。

　　Today, [ am pleased to attend the opening ceremony of the China-US Midwest CooperationForum. First of all, on behalf of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with ForeignCountries, [ would like to extend my sincere welcome to the participants, especially participantsfrom the US, who came across the ocean to attend the Forum. On this occasion, I also would liketo extend my sincere gratitude to the other organizers of the Forum, namely, Henan ProvincialPeople's Government, Government of the State of Kansas, the American Midwest US-ChinaAssociation, for your enormous work in the Forum.As you know, this year is the 30th anniversary of Sino-US diplomatic relation. 30 years ago,Chinese and US leaders used the extraordinary wisdom and courage to drive the globe withping-pang ball, breaking the barrier of ice and reopen the door to resume contacts betweenthe two countries. Since the two countries have officially established diplomatic relations in1979 and under the joint efforts of the leaders and people of the two countries, China-USrelationship has developed into the most important, vigorous and vital bilateral relationshipin today's world. Today, high-level exchanges between the two sides continued, the nationalleaders of the two countries met several times a year and maintain a hotline link. More than 60negotiation mechanisms have been established between the two countries, including the strategicand economic dialogue mechanism and in a series of issues involving the vital bilateral andinternational interests for a constructive dialogue and cooperation.Like the US Midwest states, 18 provinces, municipality and autonomous regions from China'sMidwest area enjoy vast land, unique natural and cultural landscape, rich natural resources andhuge development potential. They look forward to strengthen the exchange with the US Midwestregions in economic and trade, environmental protection, energy, etc, to achieve mutual benefitand win-win progress. The Chinese government always attaches importance to the developmentof central and western regions have in the "Ninth Five-Year Plan" and "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" the "West Exploration" and "Rise of Central China" as an important national economicand social development strategy. At present, China Eastern, Central and Western regionaldevelopment gap's historical existence and over-expansion is a long plagued comprehensive issue in China's sound social and economic development. To support economic development in central and western regions and to achieve coordinated development of eastern and western regions is an important work of the government's economic policy.　　……
