陜西籍作家在中國文壇中擁有極為重要的地位，成為中國文學、尤其是中國鄉(xiāng)土文學的一支重要力量，陜西作家群創(chuàng)作的優(yōu)秀作品真實記錄了近100年來的社會轉(zhuǎn)型軌跡，具有重要的文學欣賞價值和學術研究價值。
由陜西省作家協(xié)會編著的《陜西作家短篇小說集(英文版)》匯集了改革開放30年來，陜西具有代表性的作家如路遙、賈平凹、陳忠實、葉廣芩、高建群、馮積岐、紅柯、李康美、張虹等20位著名陜西籍作家的短篇小說代表作。
