插圖：The night is peaceful in Beijing.Ding at dawn and drum at dusk, night in Beijing arrived with the drum from the Drum Tower in the elder's memory. When the last ghost of brightness fades, the city of Beijing falls gradually to sleep accompanying the deep drum in the peaceful night. Through the Drum Tower Avenue, passing the Jingshan Park, the voice covers the whole capital city, little changed from the Wanli Emperor's reign years to the Millennium. Standing in the corner at the foot of the city arch, anything in sight stays the same as 200 years old ago. What peaceful night! From the highly holding dragon head on the Old Beijing Observatory to the gently flow of the moat; from the Temple of the Heaven's echo wall to the stone boat in the Kunming Lake of the Summer Palace: and from the scarlet lantern hanging on the Wangfujing Gate to Badaling Great Wall, history covers the capital city as the darkness, penetrating everywhere in peace.
