前言
This Standard is compiled according to the arrangement of Notice onPrinting the Development and Revision Plan of Professional Standards(Document No. 28, 1998) issued by the former Ministry of ElectricPower.Geotechnical centrifugal model test is a new technology. It canvisually and correctly reveal the engineering characters of the soils,provide the basis for the design and construction, and verify the servicecondition of the structures. It is also be used as a method forfundamental research. This technology has been widely applied inmany countries.Since 1980s, lots of academic institutes anduniversities in China have established their own centrifuge modelinglaboratories which have provided valuable data for design andconstruction of many key projects. In addition, important researchresults have been achieved with respect to fundamental research.Centrifugal model test is complicated in the aspects ofequipment, measuring instrument, model preparation, data and videoacquisition, etc.. Nevertheless, it is vital to ensure the safety of testand to avoid accidents. It is necessary to develop operation procedureand requirement in order to ensure the reliability of the test data andsafety operation of equipment and instrument. So this Standard isformulated.

插圖:6.0.1Prior to model preparation, the design data of the prototypeshall be analyzed, e.g., boundary condition, material properties andthe research purpose, etc.. Based on these analyses, the generaloutline of test, time duration of each test, and model designdocuments (model materials, scaling factor, acceleration, distributionof measuring points, and number of tests) shall be made. Theparticipants in test shall have certificates.6.0.2Generally the physical and mechanical properties of the modelmaterials shall be identical with those of the prototype materials; theseproperties include density, water content, compressibility and strength,etc.. For coarse-grained soils, model shall be prepared in accordancewith the regulations in SL 237 —— 1999; if there are difficulties inusing the prototype materials, similar materials may be allowed toreplace the prototype materials while the replacement shall bejustified by test and be in accordance with the requirement of scalinglaw. The physical and mechanical properties of similar materials shallbe identical with or similar to those of the prototype materials.
