　　"In South Korea， the Intemet has become a babysitter，" said LeeKyong Ok， a professor at Duksung Womens University in Seoul.　　Online role-playing games， where participantsmake friends and band together in clans， have a strongappeal to Koreans. "One problem with those games isthat you build your online persona through countlesshours of battles， and you develop a huge emotionalattachment to your game character，" said Chang WooMin， a one-time online garner.　　Parents report that their children steal money and donot come home for days and even weeks， practically livingin Internet cafes， and sometimes they refuse to look forjobs and play games all night and sleep during the day.　　The authorities require lnternet cafes to keep theirdistance from schools， and they open camps for teenageaddicts and distribute （散發(fā)） booklets on the dangers ofgame addiction. In addition， they are training hundredsof counselors， who visit schools and Internet cafes.　　In the 28，000 Internet cafes in South Korea， minors（未成年人） are banned from entry after 10 pro. Theauthorities have even discussed reducing the points ofgarners who play for more than three consecutive （連續(xù)的） hours. But such talks have produced no agreement，among concerns that such restrictions would harma high-growth industry and worsen the problem ofteenagers stealing adult online identification numbers.　　"Sooner or later we will be able to announceour measures，" the minister for information andcommunication， Rho Jun Hyoung， said at a newsconference in May. "Since South Korea is one of themost active and developed countries in the Internet， theworld is paying great attention to what policy we willadopt on this problem."
