　　Last summer，Cathy，S whole family went to New York City for their summer vacation.They stayed there for two weeks.　　New York City has more than seven and a half million people.It is the largest city in the United States.It is also the home ofthe United Nations.　　First they visited The Statue of Liberty.The Statue of Liberty is one of New York’S most well known historic sites（歷史場(chǎng)所）.Millions ofpeople visit it every year.　　On me second day they went to the Empire State Building.It is the tallest building in New York City now.From the top ofthe building，they saw most parts ofNew York.On the third day，they visited the Metropolitan Museum.In this museum，they saw a lot of famous paintings.During the rest time of the week，Cathy went to Bronx Zoo with her younger brother and sister.There they were glad to see a 1ot oftlleir favOrite animals——tigers，lions，monkeys and elephants.　　In me second week.the family visited Long Island.0n the island，they spent most of their time swimming，sunbathing and playing on the beach.They all had a good time.　People think that ghosts（鬼）come out at night on Halloween.At Halloween parties people wear frightening clothes and masks（面具）.We make a face from a pumpkin（南瓜）and put a candle（蠟燭） in it.Then we put it in the window to frighten people.In the UK children wearing frightening（嚇人的） clothes and masks go from door to door to get sweets by ringing doorbells and calling outtrick or treat（不給糖果就搗蛋）”.At Christmas we send Christmas cards to one another.We put decorations（裝飾）everywhere and we have a Christmas tree with Eve Santa Claus（圣誕老人）.He puts presents in our stockings.On Christmas Day there are presents for everyone.We eat special dinner at home——turkey，pudding and cake.IloveChristmas.
