考研英語閱讀題源全集

前言

對于考研英語考試而言，“題源”并非新鮮的概念。統(tǒng)計結果表明，考研英語閱讀文章有80％以上出自The Economist《經濟學家》、Newsweek《新聞周刊》、TIME《時代周刊》等原版英文報刊雜志，而且這些文章都是近五年發(fā)表的，具有一定的時效性。對于考研考生而言，想看到甚至買到這些原版的期刊雜志并非易事，而且即便“有幸”一覽這些期刊雜志，也往往發(fā)現無從下手，不知從何讀起。是篇篇通讀？還是自己選讀？選讀的標準又如何確定？這些問題往往使得不少掌握英文原版期刊雜志這一“稀缺”資源的考生如墮迷霧之中，不知所措。為了解決考生上述無處可讀和不知從何讀起的問題，我們于2008年4月出版了《考研英語閱讀題源》系列叢書，分別從The Economist《經濟學家》、Newsweek《新聞周刊》、TIME《時代周刊》、The Nen，York Times《紐約時報》、The Times《泰晤士報》、Guardian《衛(wèi)報》等6本為考研命題者所青睞的優(yōu)秀原版期刊雜志中，各精選出50篇與考研閱讀命題趨勢相貼近的文章，出版發(fā)行了6本分冊。令我們感到欣慰的是，這套叢書深受考研考生，甚至是廣大英語學習愛好者的喜愛。不過也有不少熱心讀者指出，這幾本分冊“各自為政”，自己又不方便把幾本書同時帶在身邊，難免出現帶著這本想看那本的感覺。為了滿足部分讀者對“大而全”類圖書的喜好，我們現特推出合訂本，將最受歡迎的The Economist《經濟學家》、Newsweek《新聞周刊》、TIME《時代周刊》、The Neu，York Times《紐約時報》4本分冊精編整合為真正的“考研英語閱讀題源全集”。本書將入選的200篇文章根據考研閱讀文章常考題材分為社會類、文教類、經濟類、科技類和健康類五部分。其中，每篇文章又包含以下三個部分。

作者簡介

江濤，原北京外國語大學青年教師，英國、挪威、荷蘭等多國留學背景。從教多年，受中國各大省、市100多所知名高校之邀，演講千余場，以其極具感染力的激情，一針見血的點評，坦誠務實的作風廣受學員贊譽。主編《80天攻克雅思》、《70天攻克考研英語》、《40天攻克四級710分新題型》等系列叢書，出版英語教學類書籍上千萬字，暢銷太陸，遠銷臺灣及東南亞地區(qū)。2003年同語言學家、美籍華人彭鐵城教授創(chuàng)辦華盛頓國際英語學校；2005年創(chuàng)辦卓成教育，首開中國民營教育機構多元化研究與大學師資培訓之先河。同年，受國家領導人全國人大常委會副委員長成思危接見。

插圖：機動車文明時代的人們自幼就被告誡車輛行駛的危險，并被教導正確的交通法規(guī)。只有達到一定年齡，而且在經過嚴格的訓練和考核后，他們才被允許坐上駕駛座。因此，你可能會認為，上述人群對車輛的移動應該比對動物的活動更為敏感。若真的這樣想，你就錯了?！睹绹茖W院院刊》曾刊登了耶魯大學約書亞·紐博士的一篇實驗報告，報告顯示，比起車輛的移動，人們對動物的活動更為敏感。甚至是西方國家那些生活在大城市里一年四季見不到幾次動物的人。紐博士目前正在論證最初由里達·康思曼德斯和約翰·圖筆創(chuàng)立的精神學說，這兩個人是加利福尼亞大學圣巴巴拉分校的博士，紐博士正是同他們合作展開了這項實驗。康思曼德斯和圖筆博士曾率先打破關于大腦只是作為一個多功能問題處理器而進化的舊有觀念。他們認為有一些功能是如此的重要和普遍以至于可能存在一些特殊進化出來的模塊來操縱它們，就好像一些位于為大腦皮層中特定區(qū)域被掌控的感官一樣。里達·康思曼德斯博士和圖筆博士已經找到了一些能夠證明存在這類模塊的證據，這類模塊位于控制人類關系，例如對公正性判斷的大腦區(qū)域內。現在紐博士在完全不同的領域提供了更多的證據。其他一些研究人員發(fā)現，在大腦中可能存在著一些由天然物體構成的某種范疇在大腦中被區(qū)別反映（動物、植物、人、工具和地形是業(yè)已確定的例子）。在此研究的基礎上，紐博士想知道系統(tǒng)里人腦是否對這些范疇的物體有著不同的反應方式。在實驗中他給每個志愿者一對圖片，其中包含了一個或多個屬于那五種心理范疇的物體。這些圖片除了一樣物體改變了方位或者被更換外，其他部分都是完全相同的。參與者被要求找出其中的不同。但紐博士真正想解決的問題是搞清楚這種預期是先天形成的還是后天培養(yǎng)的。對此，他通過實驗收集了一系列已進行測試過的物體，以及它們移動的趨勢，但其中也有在長期進化的過程中沒有接觸到的物體：汽車。答案是動物的移動明顯比車輛的移動更容易被察覺。在大部分的口述比較中，100％的參與者都察覺到了非洲灌木叢里移動的大象，但察覺到汽車移動的只有72％。而且這還是在汽車視覺體積比大象略大且被涂成紅色而非如大象一樣灰色的情況下得出的結果。
