這本書收集了不同時(shí)代的設(shè)計(jì)的新嘗試。無論是文字、圖標(biāo)還是插畫，它們的選擇標(biāo)準(zhǔn)都是新穎前衛(wèi)的，而且最好能預(yù)示下個(gè)時(shí)代的流行特點(diǎn)。本書也收集了很多有懷舊元素的作品，因?yàn)猷l(xiāng)愁從很早以前就已是設(shè)計(jì)潮流的一個(gè)部分。所以這本書里收集的內(nèi)容并不全部是最新的作品，比如文字圖形設(shè)計(jì)，有時(shí)候1996年的作品反而比2005年的作品更前衛(wèi)，更有創(chuàng)造性。作者力求做到形式的多樣化，因?yàn)楝F(xiàn)如今的美已經(jīng)被細(xì)分了，幾種樣式不能完全代表美的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。本書以日本設(shè)計(jì)師的作品為主，作者也盡可能地在世界各地的作品中選出優(yōu)秀的作品，其中有很多著名設(shè)計(jì)師的作品，當(dāng)然也有很多無名設(shè)計(jì)師的作品。
