　　Advice for FledgLing Writers　　Resilient and determined， King came back from his near fatal accident by publishing the nonfiction book On， Writing： A Memoir of the Craft（2000）， which he had actually begun writing in 1997.　　In On Writing， Stephen talks about his many years of experience practicing the writer art and offers sound advice for the new writer of fiction. He suggests， "Skills in description， dialogue， and character development all boil down to seeing or hearing clearly and then transcribing what you see or hear with equal clarity...." King emphasizes that "Story is honorable and trustworthy; plot is shifty， and best kept under house arrest." He advises， "Good fiction always begins with story and progresses totheme; it almost never begins with theme and progresses to　story. " In the course of his instructional narrative，　King disavows that being an author is a glamorous profession. He insists this creative art demands discipline， constant practice， and the ability　to shut oneself off from everyday life - even for a few hours - to concentrate on writing.　　……
