前言

　　教育部2007年頒布了《大學(xué)英語課程教學(xué)要求》（以下簡稱《教學(xué)要求》），對大學(xué)英語教學(xué)目標(biāo)做出了定性、定量的要求，并將大學(xué)英語教學(xué)分為三個(gè)層次：一般要求、較高要求和更高要求?！　∮⒄Z快速閱讀能力的培養(yǎng)與提高是大學(xué)英語教學(xué)的重要內(nèi)容，也是衡量大學(xué)生英語水平高低的重要指標(biāo)。為進(jìn)一步深化大學(xué)英語教學(xué)改革，提高教學(xué)質(zhì)量，應(yīng)對新形勢、新挑戰(zhàn)，我們依據(jù)教育部2007年的《教學(xué)要求》，以外語教學(xué)理論為指導(dǎo)，以英語語言知識(shí)與應(yīng)用技能、跨文化交際和學(xué)習(xí)策略為主要內(nèi)容，編寫了這套《新世紀(jì)新編大學(xué)英語快速閱讀》（以下簡稱《快速閱讀》）。本套教材有助于學(xué)生在就業(yè)時(shí)和將來的工作、生活以及社會(huì)交往中，運(yùn)用英語進(jìn)行有效的口頭和書面交流，同時(shí)增強(qiáng)學(xué)生的自主學(xué)習(xí)能力，提高綜合文化素養(yǎng)。

The New York Public Library, the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh and the Fine Arts Library at Harvard are among those who have issued statements of support.　　"The co-op set the model for artists control over distribution of their own films, and continues to mean a tremendous amount to people working completely outside the commercial system," said P.
