前言

  袁邦株是我在河北師范大學(xué)任教時(shí)指導(dǎo)的一名碩士學(xué)生,他勤奮好學(xué),非常用功,課下喜歡與老師交流,善于思考和鉆研。當(dāng)時(shí),我們邀請我的導(dǎo)師北京大學(xué)英語系胡壯麟教授為河北師范大學(xué)外國語學(xué)院的研究生開設(shè)了“功能語言學(xué)”課程,學(xué)生們都很興奮和高興,形成了濃厚的學(xué)習(xí)和鉆研功能語言學(xué)的氛圍。邦株就是其中之一,他領(lǐng)悟事情敏捷,善于抓住機(jī)遇,他執(zhí)著認(rèn)真的治學(xué)態(tài)度和充分利用各種機(jī)會不斷進(jìn)取的精神給我留下了深刻的印象。邦株2002年考入北京師范大學(xué)外文學(xué)院,成為我招收的首批博士生之一,研究方向是“語篇分析”。現(xiàn)在,他的博士畢業(yè)論文即將付梓出版,作為他在北師大攻讀博士學(xué)位期間的指導(dǎo)教師,我感到非常高興。我有幸目睹作者的成長和本書的完成過程,愿與讀者分享內(nèi)心的激動和喜悅?! “钪甑牟┦空撐难芯康氖巧鐣茖W(xué)論文中的人際意義。語言的人際意義來自功能語言學(xué)對語言功能的劃分。在韓禮德(M.A.K.Halliday)的系統(tǒng)功能語言學(xué)理論中,語言有概念、人際和語篇三種元功能。與傳統(tǒng)語言學(xué)主要關(guān)注語言的形式和語義關(guān)系不同,功能語言學(xué)強(qiáng)調(diào)語言的社會的、人際的以及動態(tài)的意義。邦株發(fā)現(xiàn)人際功能或人際意義的研究中,關(guān)注文學(xué)語篇、應(yīng)用語篇或具體語言交際的為多,對學(xué)術(shù)語篇,尤其是社會科學(xué)語篇的研究尚未引起語言學(xué)界足夠重視。他選擇了探究社會科學(xué)論文中人際意義的題目,具體地說,就是探究:(1)社會科學(xué)工作者在撰寫學(xué)術(shù)論文過程中如何處理與以往研究理論和觀點(diǎn)的關(guān)系,如何對他人的研究成果和觀點(diǎn)進(jìn)行介紹、參照和評價(jià);(2)如何處理作者和讀者的關(guān)系,如何提出自己的新觀點(diǎn);(3)如何處理作者自己和研究內(nèi)容的關(guān)系。

  《社會科學(xué)論文中的人際意義研究:體裁視角分析》從跨學(xué)科的角度研究社會科學(xué)論文體裁中的人際意義,以功能語言學(xué)對人際意義的研究為基本框架,融合體裁分析、語用學(xué)、修辭學(xué)、批評話語分析、巴赫金對話理論和社會建構(gòu)理論,建立了一個(gè)社會科學(xué)論文人際意義的分析模式。

  Beyond functional grammar, voices from other fields call ourattention to the significance of studying interpersonal meaning,though this significance is perceived and emphasized from differentperspectives in different theories. Therefore, in the subsequentsection, study of IP from the perspective of rhetoric, pragmatics,philosophy, discourse analysis, and literary criticism is presented.It should be noted here that the foregoing discussion ofinterpersonal meaning in various areas can not be divided asexplicitly as it looks in the next section.Overlapping seemsinevitable. The division into several parts is only for the sake ofconvenience in discussion. At the end of the next section, weargue that an interdisciplinary approach is needed in the discussionof interpersonal meaning in SSRA. This is the place whence westart to do.  2.1.2IP in Other Disciplines  Rhetoric,either classicalor new rhetoric,is mainlyconcerned with the logic of argument and its persuasiveness:making a point and winning over an audience through coherent,convincing presentations. It focuses on the achievement of aparticular effect on the audience or the readers, which evidentlyillustratestheirconsiderationofinterpersonalmeaningindiscourse.  Rhetorical studies have always kept the reader in mind.Speaker credibility and the stance one takes in relating himself ofhis message to audience are critical concepts today, as they werein ancient times.
