內(nèi)容概要

本書共有八個單元，每單元包括課文和補充閱讀兩篇文章。    本書強調(diào)語言基本功的訓練和語言實用能力的培養(yǎng)，因此在每單元的課文后均配有大量練習，其中包括回答問題（Comprehension Questions）、話題討論（Topics for Discussion）、詞匯（Vocabulary）、短文填空（Cloze）、翻譯（Translation）和寫作（Writing）。    每一單元中的口譯技能（Translating Skills）體現(xiàn)了本書特色。這一部分簡要介紹了口譯領(lǐng)域的一些理論知識，并通過實例剖析，概述了口譯技能的實際運用。此外，還提供了一些口譯范例供學生欣賞，以便進一步提高運用英語的實際能力。    第一單元中還增設(shè)了補充材料（Additional Work）和諺語（Proverbs）。補充材料包括兩個部分：習語學習和閱讀欣賞。習語練習與課文無關(guān)，主要供語言基礎(chǔ)較好或希望參加國際英語考試的學生使用。閱讀欣賞主要介紹一些文字價值較高的散文、小說和詩歌等，以提高學生的文學修養(yǎng)。諺語通常與課文內(nèi)容有關(guān)，旨在加深學生的文化底蘊。

作者簡介

陸效用，復旦大學英語語言文學教授，博士生導師。1946年生，江蘇漣水人。1970年畢業(yè)于復旦大學外國語言文學系。1985年至1987年留學美國，獲紐約州立大學應(yīng)用語言學和閱讀雙碩士學位。曾任復旦大學外文系副主任和大學英語教學部主任，現(xiàn)任全國高等院校外語教學研究會常
