內(nèi)容概要

本書共有十個(gè)單元，每單元包括兩篇課文。    本書強(qiáng)調(diào)語(yǔ)言基本功的訓(xùn)練和語(yǔ)言實(shí)用能力的培養(yǎng)，因此在每單元的第一篇課文后均配有大量練習(xí)，其中包括回答問(wèn)題、話題討論、詞匯、短文填空、翻譯和寫作。    每一單元中還有一項(xiàng)是體現(xiàn)本書特色的口語(yǔ)技能。這一部分編寫了若干與課文內(nèi)容相關(guān)的熱門話題，要求學(xué)生在課堂上或課后進(jìn)行操練，以便進(jìn)一步提高運(yùn)用英語(yǔ)的實(shí)際能力。    每一單元中還增設(shè)了補(bǔ)充材料和諺語(yǔ)。補(bǔ)充材料包括三個(gè)部分：習(xí)語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)、詞匯補(bǔ)充和閱讀欣賞。習(xí)語(yǔ)和詞匯練習(xí)與課文無(wú)關(guān)，主要供語(yǔ)言基礎(chǔ)較好或希望參加國(guó)際英語(yǔ)考試的學(xué)生使用。閱讀欣賞主要介紹一些英語(yǔ)習(xí)語(yǔ)的來(lái)源和文學(xué)價(jià)值較高的散文、詩(shī)歌等，以提高學(xué)生的文學(xué)修養(yǎng)。諺語(yǔ)通常與課文內(nèi)容有關(guān)，旨在加深學(xué)生的文化底蘊(yùn)。

作者簡(jiǎn)介

曾道明，復(fù)旦大學(xué)英語(yǔ)語(yǔ)言文學(xué)教授。1949年5月生，江西萍鄉(xiāng)人。1970年就讀于復(fù)旦大學(xué)外文系，1973年12月赴新西蘭維多利亞大學(xué)學(xué)習(xí)，主修英國(guó)語(yǔ)言、英美文學(xué)和翻譯學(xué)。1976年10月歸國(guó)后任教于復(fù)旦大學(xué)外文系和英語(yǔ)教學(xué)部至今。1992年9月赴美進(jìn)修、主修語(yǔ)言學(xué)理論?，F(xiàn)主要
