《新世紀(jì)英語(yǔ)教程(專升本·第1冊(cè))》中每課均涉及同一個(gè)主題,口語(yǔ)活動(dòng)、聽力材料和兩篇閱讀材料各有側(cè)重。圍繞這些與學(xué)生生活和社會(huì)活動(dòng)息息相關(guān)的熱門話題,學(xué)生可以在教師的指導(dǎo)下充分發(fā)揮其學(xué)習(xí)的主動(dòng)性,通過大量的語(yǔ)言活動(dòng),提高其語(yǔ)言應(yīng)用能力。由于話題相同,詞匯復(fù)現(xiàn)率高,有助于學(xué)生提高單詞記憶效果。鑒于自學(xué)指導(dǎo)中已有詳細(xì)的課文注釋和譯文并附有練習(xí)答案,因此教師不必再花太多的寶貴課堂教學(xué)時(shí)間講解課文,而可以將更多的課堂時(shí)間用在提高學(xué)生的語(yǔ)言應(yīng)用能力上,從而使學(xué)生真正成為課堂教學(xué)的主角。前五個(gè)部分大量的口語(yǔ)練習(xí)為教師開展有效的課堂口語(yǔ)活動(dòng)提供了多方面的選擇。當(dāng)然,由于教學(xué)時(shí)數(shù)的限制,教師完全可以自主決定,有針對(duì)性地選擇其中一部分作為課堂教學(xué)活動(dòng),而讓學(xué)生在課外進(jìn)行其他練習(xí)。
